[Ad- gifted product] When it comes to Christmas time, there are normally huge, elaborate dinners that could feed a family of ten. It doesn’t make much sense to cook a bunch of different sides when there is only two of you. My family live in an entire different continent, which means that I am probably not having a huge Christmas dinner most years. And, sometimes, you just want a large Christmas-themed dinner mid December, to get yourself into the spirit. QBag is a perfect solution for this, as you can cook an entire Christmas dinner in one bag, with very little clean up. This recipe is one that you can shift and change depending on what you want in your Christmas Dinner.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Sliced Brussel Sprouts
- 1/2 cup Chopped Carrots
- 1/2 cup Chopped Parsnip
- 1 and 1/2 cup sliced mini-potatoes
- 5 Pigs in a Blanket (mini ones work best)
- 2 slices of Turkey Breast
- 1/2 Onion, sliced
- 1 Garlic Clove, peeled
- 1/2 cup Chopped Swede
- Glug of oil
- Salt / Pepper
- Rosemary
- Gravy
Step 1: Pre-boil your potatoes and swede, for about 10 minutes in boiling water Then drain and fluff a bit by shaking them around in the strainer.
Step 2: Put all vegetables including the swede, potatoes and garlic clove (pealed) into your QBag. Add a glug of oil and seal the bag up. Place on a baking tray into the oven at 200 degrees C for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Remove the plastic window in your QBag, which should have puffed up to steam your veggies. Add in your salt, pepper, and rosemary. Add in your turkey breast and pigs in a blanket. Return your tray to the oven, for another 20 minutes.
Step 4: Heat your gravy on the hob.
Step 5: After 20 minutes, take out your tray and dish out your meat and veggies. The bag can then be thrown in the bin. Pour over warm gravy.
With the QBag, we were able to steam all of our veggies, before adding in our meat, which then added more flavor to the vegetables themselves. I found that cleaning up was really easy – there was just two pots, a cutting board and a knife, to wash up from actually preparing the meal, which is far less than a Christmas dinner would normally take, even if the dinner was just for two people. The bag is a perfect size for two people, ensuring a filling meal, and you could add your own vegetables that you love as well.
This post is a part of our Blogmas series, with each and every post being about Christmas or Winter.
This would be perfect for a couple as I agree, I think some people do spend so much on their Christmas dinner when it is not always needed
Yeah, and sometimes it is really hard to eat up all those leftovers when you are a small household.
Thanks for a nice recipe here. will definitely try it. good timing that husband is into veggie diet, a few pork sliced wont hurt.
Ohhh what a fun time! You could always put in some veggie sausages!
These bags are genius! I hope they make their way over the the pond! What a great way to save on cleanup as well.
They are such an amazing product!
Dinner made fast and simple. What’s not to love about that?!?
And clean up is quite easy as well!
This does seem like a good option for those who want a Xmas dinner but don’t want to cook the whole thing. It’s only the 2 of us for Xmas day this year (the same as last year) but we’re going to cook everything and just have leftovers x
Aww I hope you have a lovely Christmas together!
Oh, this is awesome. What a great looking meal – the perfect serving size for two to enjoy!
It is often hard to make a big meal for two, so this was perfect.
