It’s a holiday, so that means that there is a new Doughnut Time’s DIY Kit! When it came to the kits that Doughnut Time had – they did a donut kit and they did a donut bite kit that allowed you to dip your donuts (which were sort of like churro shaped) into toppings. At our home, we all decided to go with the bunnies that had a jam filling, as they are a household favorite and everyone loves a jammy donut.
Inside the kit, we got 4 bunny donuts, some colorful sprinkles, a big piping bag of vanilla – white frosting, a small bag of black frosting, a small bag of pink frosting, a large bag of jam, and enough eyes so that each bunny got two. Though this kit didn’t come with a bunch of extra sweets or anything, like previous kits, we really did enjoy what was in this pack – and didn’t have to dish out any treats that needed chopping and placing on. I do personally wish that the white frosting was split into two different bags, as it was a lot of waiting around for someone to get done. Amelia, Kai, Dann and I made our bunnies white, with pink and black details, where as Robin didn’t want to wait around too much and just created her quite blank bunny.
Before we did any covering though, we used a chop stick to make a hole in our bunny and stuff them with way too much jam. This is the highlight of having make your own donuts, as you can add as much jam as you want. We also continued to put blobs of jam on our bunny ears, as we ate them, for a bit more of a tang. The jam itself was really yummy – everyone enjoyed it – and it was quite squeezy and fun to put in.
Once we had the jam and frosting in, we added some sprinkles to some of them, added the eyes, and then dug right in. This box actually had a different design on the outside, to celebrate Easter, which was really cute. Doughnut Time’s DIY kits are great as a family activity in the evening – and everyone always loves a sweet dessert.
