Easter Adventures at Wimpole Estate

Easter at Wimpole Estate

[Ad- gifted experience] Wimpole Estate is our absolute favorite National Trust place to visit, especially around the holidays as they are always putting on some sort of event. Easter at Wimpole Estate is a really affordable family day out, that you don’t even need to pre-book and can just drop by and attend if the weather is good! This Easter Trail does give you access to the whole estate, including the farm yard, walled garden, cafe and house!

When we arrived at Wimpole Estate, we waited in line and then got our trail map and bunny ear hats! The trail includes a mini-chocolate Easter Egg once you’ve finished, and handing in your map will get you your egg. This map shows the location of ten different activities, which are all around the main entrance and cafe area, so you won’t need to walk too far if you don’t want too! These activities start off strong with carrot toss, tossing carrots into a whole. The next is a bit hard for people to see, due to no sign to showcase that it is there; it’s basically a bunch of drawings on the walkway that change the way you walk – which we understood after looking at the map over and over, and trying to find the second thing.

Everything else was more straight forward, with signs telling what you should be doing and how it relates to Easter. One task had you going on a mini parkour course, another has you hula-hooping, another is an eye spa on the windows of the house and Robin’s favorite was building a little nest for a giant egg (or for Robin herself, if you ask her). All of these tasks are easy and unmanned, allowing you to walk up and do them for as long as you’d like. The age range that is ideal for these activities are toddlers to about 7 years old, I’d say, so Robin really got into it, with the older two just happy to be out and about in the sunshine.

Once we were done with the first half of the activities, we made our way to the farm yard area, as the pigs were scheduled to be fed soon. There are a bunch of these little activities that you can attend at Wimpole Estate, and the pigs are always more active and noisy when they are being fed. We saw the pigs, and then visited some of the new baby animals; baby goats! These goats were so tiny and so cute – perfect to see around spring! We also saw horses, ponies, chickens, and of course, bunny rabbits. Through the animal area is another cafe as well as a fun park, with a lot of parkour areas. We spent quite some time at this park as we had our picnic lunch there, then Kai picked out some desserts for everyone and a sausage roll for himself as he was still a bit snacky.

The walk around the estate is full of flowers and blossoms this time of year and there are plenty of different paths to take as you make your way around. We didn’t go into the walled garden or inside the house, but if we did, we could have easily spent the entire day there! After doing more activities including giant Jenga, egg race, and throwing eggs into pots, we collected our chocolate egg and took a photo in their little photo area. As always, Wimpole Estate puts on a fun day out, especially if you like exploring and nature.

All the activities at Wimpole Estate are so perfect for a day of family fun. This is exactly the kind of thing we loved to do when my son was a kid.

I feel like the Easter at Wimpole Estate would be lot of fun. I’d have to check the event next Easter if it is around at that time.
