Factopia fills a child with curious knowledge

Factopia

[Ad- gifted product] I feel like every child goes through a phase of wanting to know everything and trying to find facts they can memorise so that they can then show it off to their friends. This sort of curiosity is one that often leads to lots of questions being asked. Not everything children read on the internet is true, and it’s often hard to go from one place to another, so when I saw Factopia, I felt that it was a good alternative which connects a bunch of different facts together in a way that makes them easier to understand.

Factopia is designed as a trail of 400 facts, which weave and wind together, in a bunch of different ways. Some of the paths are sort of like choose your own adventure, where you can follow a path forward or choose to follow it to another page, listed on the path. These paths all intertwine really well, as you transition from learning about bugs to learning about sharks, and then into light reflecting off of the moon creating rainbows! It’s all looped together in a really interesting way, going from one fact to another instead of just a boring list of facts.

Kai found the mix of hand drawn pictures and photo realistic pictures really cool as well, and could read through the book and then tell us the highlights as he goes. Following the different routes became a fun path for him, as he went back to previous paths and then followed them differently going forward, to see how they connected to the next facts. There are tons of different subjects within the book; breakfasts, space, animals, dinosaurs, light, weather, crystals – anything you could possibly think of. Factopia feels like an educational book that has been really well thought out, for those with curious, wandering mines that go from one thing to the next.
