Dann and I always go to the Lavender Field to take cute pictures, each and every year, so when I was advertised a sunflower field at Foxes Farm, I knew we were going! We have actually not been to Foxes Farm previously, though they do have a pumpkin patch and we have visited a lot of pumpkin patches over the last few years. But, focusing on the Sunflower Field!
Foxes Farm has a large sunflower field, along with a big corn maize at the back that you can go through. There are some other children-focused activities as well, like a scavenger hunt, stickers for completing the maze, a decent sized play park, a big sand box and a snacks sand that sells hot and cold drinks. We didn’t realize that the place was quite so family focused, but that didn’t stop us from walking around and having a good time! We went towards the very end of the Sunflower Season, so there were clearly a bunch of sunflowers picked and purchased, as well as ones that had lost their pedals. Sunflowers were really cheap to buy, at one pound a stem, and some stems could have like five different flower heads on it!
I do wish Foxes Farm spent some time pulling up the empty stems and getting rid of the damaged flowers, to make for better photographs and selections when picking, but there was a lot of places that still had beautiful flowers to take pictures in! There is a main row through the middle, and it’s split into sort of four sections, with the ability to sort of walk a bit into the flowers to get a good backdrop. You cannot just walk through the middle of the field like in the pictures on the website, but you can walk against the flowers themselves. There were tons of bees on this farm too, which are so much fun to watch and take pictures of!
Dann and I also took pictures on the wooden swing, which is by a charity donation point, and took a walk around their pumpkin patch. They had two pumpkin patch areas, where you could see the green and slightly turning orange pumpkins as well as massive pumpkin blossoms! We might need to check out the pumpkin patch this year when it is ripe enough! There were a few different photo areas as well, like a big frame to take pictures in and haybales that you can sit on, which gives you more height over the sunflowers themselves.
We had a lovely time at the Foxes Farm Sunflower Field and it is so nice to see so many children’s activities here to keep little ones entertained! There is plenty to do and if you brin g a picnic you could spend a lazy, sunny day taking pictures and exploring the activities with your kids.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
