Pancake sheds a lot. Like, more than I feel most cats probably do. This might be because we pet him a lot and we brush him often, who knows. That paired with my love of black hoodies and big blankets have left us with lots of stuff being washed, yet the hair isn’t coming out during the cycle. In search of finding a way to fix this issue, I purchased a FurGrip (in cat, of course) and crossed my fingers. FurGrip is a slightly sticky, plastic thing that goes into the wash along with your cloths.
The FurGrip has just a few limitations – it can’t go into the wash with fabric softeners or fabric sheets nor can the temperature be above 130 degrees Celsius. This all seemed simple enough to follow. The idea is, once you put it in with your clothing, all of the hair, fluff, gunk, etc will stick to the FurGrip, then once your laundry is done, you can empty your machine, rinse off your tool in the sink, and then use it for another wash. Sadly, this was not the case for us.
Despite following the rules – our washing machine doesn’t even get nearly as hot as needed to break it – the FurGrip did break. After a single wash, it was melted, the edges were warn down, and the grip was ripped in half. This was a very disappointing experience, but the customer service was good, as they were quick to refund the price. It’s a shame as I really did want this item to work and I wanted a way to get all of the fur off of all of my clothing and blankets through the wash. Hopefully, the next product we try is something that works well for us. If you’ve got any suggestions, I am all ears.

It’s too bad that it fell short of its promise – after all, it’s a product that I also would have jumped on! After all, with 4 pets and a LOVE for black clothing, I feel like I should just carry a lint brush with me everywhere I go each day lol! Thank you for sharing.
Yeah, it really is! I was hoping my black hoodies would be saved. >_<
