[Ad – Gifted Products] Another Monday of hanging out at our local Geek Retreat has come and gone, with us playing History Heroes: A Little Slice of Animal History card game this time. Previously, we have played History Heroes: A Little Slice of History, which was very similar to this game in design. Instead of the cards having triangles of history, they had triangles of important animals throughout history, which made for a very interesting game.

In History Heroes: A Little Slice of Animal History, everyone is given an equal number of cards in their deck, which is dependent on the number of players taking part. They then, on their turn, need to place a card down that fits into the web of history they are creating. This is done by completing circles on the edges of the cards, but you can only complete these edges if they match or if you have a H history symbol, which works like a wild card. The majority of these cards are famous animals like Dolly the Sheep or Elsa the lioness. The cards also have a line on why they are important, which is useful in casual learning as everyone is curious who that animal is and why it’s important.

Slowly, over the course of History Heroes: A Little Slice of Animal History card game, you start to create a web that is all joined together, building and growing. There are more than just animal cards in the game – there are also event cards which bring some strategy into play, as the end goal is to spend all your cards first. However, if you cannot place a card as you do not have any matches, you must draw a card, then you can either play it if possible or it moves to the next person’s turn. Both Robin and Amelia had a fantastic time playing History Heroes A Little Slice of Animal History card game – they really were interested in these animals. It’s so fun to have an easy to carry around, casual learning card game like this.

This looks like a really fun card game! I like that these cards show facts about each animal, so the kids are learning while playing!
This is so cool! I love the way the web develops. It’s a great visual representation of how connected everything is.
This sounds like a nice game to lay with the family. I enjoy anything which makes you gain knowledge. And who doesn’t love learning things about animals?!
The history symbol acting as a wild card is such a smart mechanic for keeping the game flowing. And I agree – casual learning while playing is the dream. This looks perfect for car trips or rainy afternoons. Thanks for the honest review!
Oh man – this is such a great present for my nephew! He is a big animal lover, so he will appreciate it more than anyone else. Thank you for the idea!
