Going up in the i360 Brighton

Dann and I have been to Brighton lots. It’s not too far from where we live, and it’s one of my favorite places. We’ve gone for my birthday, to see the Artbox Cafe each time the theme changes, for gaming events. There is just a lot of reasons for us to go! When it came to planning a day out for the children, now that they can take on little road trips, Dann suggested Brighton, so I got to work planning the day. One that we really wanted to do, was go into the i360 Brighton, ran by British Airways.

Kai has been really interested in being up high. I have no other way to describe it. He wants to ride a helicopter, go on the London Eye, etc. We figured, we’d surprise him with the i360, which does take you up high! Ticket prices are actually quite reasonable, especially when compared to the London Eye. We’ve been up in the i360 Brighton a couple of times, once for a work event even that had the bar open! Th i360 Brighton can be seen from all around, as you watch the donut move up and down the stick in the middle, something that we walked around and watched throughout the day.

Kai said he knew we were going on it, as we always do everything when we go out, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when we lined up outside to get our tickets checked. They took our drinks out of our bag for us to collect later, scanned us, and then we waited on the deck on the other side. Dann and I tried to get a drink, but a group of women were claiming some sort of points that people didn’t understand, and that took us until the i360 was ready to board. We instead took over some Pokemon Go Gyms with the kids, who were anxiously waiting for the big thing to come down.

Once it spat out everyone at the very bottom, we got into the queue and boarded the i360 Brighton, then went up into the sky. There is so much to see from this view; the beach side, the houses side, all of the art done on rooftops seemingly just to show off in this amazing ride. There is plenty of space in the I360 to walk around, a little bar at the top, and some music playing. One of the people made an announcement about how soon they are opening it up so you can go right to the top of the pillar this donut rides up, but that wasn’t going on today, so we didn’t get a chance to try it. Instead, we took tons of pictures of the view and pointed out different areas. According to the map, you can even see the Isle of Wight, where we went on holiday last year! The kids thought it was really amazing, and were well behaved during the whole flight. They’d never been up so high and felt that it was quite amazing. It does feel like a bit of a weird thing to take kids onto as there isn’t really kid activities, but the i360 Brighton was just long enough to hold their attention, while they pointed out things they saw and made comments about the world down below.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

I love Brighton too. It is our nearest seaside town. I love the vibe there, it is so colourful. I haven’t been in the 360 yet but might have to do this in the summer holidays

My boys would love this, too! What awesome views of the whole area. And I love that the kids took over a gym, that’s something mine would do while waiting, too 🙂

OMG, you are braver than me. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to go up in there. The views must be amazing though!!!
