When Dann and I went with some friends to The Korean BBQ House Barbican, I was surprised at such a simple name and wasn’t sure what we were going to be eating. We were on a bit of a time crunch, and with 8 other people, so getting Korean BBQ didn’t make a lot of sense for us. I would have totally been down for a big BBQ, generally, so we agreed to come back sometime in the future and try that out. What really shocked me though, was how delicious their menu of not-Korean-BBQ-food was! We had a bunch of vegetarians and vegans with us, and there were so many good options for them too.
OI Kimchi and Kimchi Mandoo

There is a real theme to the food that I picked out to eat at the Korean BBQ House Barbican. I absolutely love kimchi, so wanted to try so many! Dann and I shared the OI Kimchi, which was a cucumber and carrot quick-pickle kimchi, that had a lot of crunch and flavor. I really liked this – our friend Wendy also got it and said it was fantastic too, which is why we ended up with a dish ourself. It was a good portion for kimchi as well. The Kimchi Mandoo was basically a kimchi goyza, which had a crispy side and was full of flavorful kimchi (the cabbage kind). The dip itself was sort of plain, but the goyza filling had plenty of flavor.
Bulgogi Bibimbap and Kimchi Bokkumbap

I was extremely hungry by the time my food came out, due to how long of a day we were having, so didn’t take the time to take a fantastic picture like Dann! He had the Bulgogi Bibimbap, which is one of his favorite dishes. There was plenty of toppings and the rice was very well cooked, he said. I had some of his beef, and it was marinated so well! They also brought over a bottle of bibimbap sauce, which had a kick to it. I had the Kimchi Bokkumbap, which had rice cooked in the bowl that I was eating out of. This dish was full of spice! I do wish my egg had a runny yolk, it was cooked through, but the toppings was fantastic and the rice was very tasty.
I really loved the food at The Korean BBQ House Barbican. The staff was so fantastic to us as well, dealing with our split bill and our time crunch well. The pina coladas, which are virgin, were also fantastic – so tasty and refreshing!
This sounds like a great place. I love that they have so many options for everyone, and it all looks so good!
I love bowl meals and these look so good! Thanks for sharing.
I loooove Korean BBQ, it is delicious…Also Kimchi, I have it almost daily, really good.
Wow, I am a big fan of Korean food. Although there are very few restaurants in our city that serve authentic Korean food, I try and make some recipes at home. Just looking at those pics made me so hungry.
Korean food is so delicious, and feel everything besides KBBQ is overlooked! Bibimbap is such a healthy and tasty dish, one of my favorites.
If I am ever in the area I will make sure to visit this eatery as everything looks so delicious and love that they had options to suit everyones diets and tastes 😉
