[Ad- gifted product] We eat a lot of noodles and Ramen-esque food in our household, so we were very excited to get our hands on Kung Fu Mama’s Spicy Noodles and Sesame & Peanut Noodles meals. These noodles come in packs of three servings, all individually sealed, with a bunch of little packs of sauces and veggies that you are meant to add to them. The cook in about 5 minutes, making for a quick and easy meal that feels much better than just an instant noodle. These noodles are available at Sainsbury’s stores now! We added some bits and bobs to make ours more to our taste. Let’s get into it!
Kung Fu Mama Spicy Chinese Noodles
The first one we tried was the Spicy Noodles, which had the least amount of sauces to add. These noodles cooked quickly, floating when they were done, before we added the sauces and the veggies, then added our own. We went for bok choy, which was blanched in boiling water for the duration of cooking the noodles, some spring onions, and some kimchi to enhance the spicy-ness. The spicy noodles weren’t too intensely hot, they just left a tingle on your tongue and lips. Dann found these to be his favourite of the two.
Kung Fu Mama Chinese Noodles with Sesame & Peanut
Sometimes when I think of peanut noodles I imagine basically peanut butter stirred into whatever I am eating and I am not too impressed. With that in mind, these noodles blew my mind and ended up being my favorite. They were not something covered in peanut butter and instead had a subtle nutty flavor, but mainly tasted of sesame and the veggie packet. We stuck with some blanched bok choy and chopped spring onions, but replaced the kimchi with snap peas that had been blanched as well. Adding veggies to these makes them a more full and healthy meal.
Over all, we really enjoyed these noodles. I am not always in the mood for a soup, and having a quick and easy meal that isn’t a soup but takes just as much time as making instant soup is a great option. The noodles were filling and adding in little bits to make them your own is perfect. My only real issue with the noodles were the packaging. The outside is plastic, inside are three lots of noodles in plastic, then a plastic bag of little plastic and foil bags of more stuff. I just felt like the amount of plastic was really over the top – especially at a time when we want to be taking care of our environment. I would totally eat them again though!
