Testing Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets

Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets

*AD – the item in this review was gifted to our household for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

When it comes to household products, there are lots of subscriptions that are out there! We currently get our dishwasher tablets through a subscription, and it seems like a convenient way to have the products I often forget about purchasing at the store. Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets are something I have never heard of, so much so that Dann kept asking if they were dryer sheets, when in fact they are detergent, meant to go into the wash with your dirty laundry to make them clean.

Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets states they are more eco friendly, as their shipping, since their product is lighter, has less of a carbon impact when it comes to shipping, and the item itself is biodegradable in recycled packaging, which is all very good signs. We currently use pods ourselves that do come in bulky, plastic bags or boxes but have done a good job of making our clothing clean, so we were interested in trying out these new things!

How to use Laundry Detergent Sheets

Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets

Using Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets is pretty straight forward. We were sent a pack of ten sheets, with clear instructions on the back. These sheets are best for 4.5 kg of laundry, with a medium soil. It states that soft/medium water should use one strip per wash (half of the two stuck together), even if it is a heavily soiled load. If you have hard water, and your clothing is heavily soiled, you’ll want to put in 2 strips, but otherwise, it’s one, and then you will wash your laundry as normal.

The sheets themselves, in the package, smell good. Like clean laundry – exactly what you’d want your laundry to smell like when it’s clean. As our water is medium, we added one strip to a small load, which wasn’t very soiled at all, and set it to wash as per normal. Once the wash was done, we went to hang up the clothing, and the sheet was gone – completely disintegrated. The only issue was, our clothing still had a stink to it. The t-shirts that had smelled warn, still smelled exactly the same as before it went into the wash, which wasn’t a good sign. We through everything back in and did another wash with two of the Reco Laundry Detergent sheets, and then at that point, none of the clothing smelled bad, but many of them just smelled like nothing at all, which is quite strange for a clean load of laundry!

I am not sure if the people in our home are particularly smelly or but for us, these sheets just didn’t seem to clean as much as we would have liked. The sheets feel like a soft felt, and it was impressive that they dissolved, but I do not feel we will switch to them personally. If you’d like to give Reco Laundry Detergent Sheets a go, they do have trial packs, so you can see if they do a better job for your family’s laundry!

It was really interesting to read this review as we’ve been looking at ways to tackle the wastage created around laundry, but I’ve often found things just don’t clean as well. Thanks for the honest review!
