Mahogany Cutlery Set | Review

Cutlery Set

*AD – the item in this review was gifted to our household for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

Single use plastic items are something everyone is cutting back on, especially with the removal of plastic straws from various fast food places. With the amount of plastic that is attempting to break down around the world, for those of us that grab something to eat while out, not using a plastic fork, knife, and spoon is a simple change that can make a big difference over time. The Mahogany Cutlery Set, a fork, knife and spoon made out of mahogany wood is a perfect item to throw into your bag and take around with you.

These can simply be rinsed off, or stored in a container that you can easily clean, allowing you to easily access some cutlery that you can use and take home to wash. As someone who does go out often and sometimes eats food with plastic cutlery, especially at events, it made a lot of sense for me to start carrying these – instead of grabbing the plastic cutlery, it’s easy to dig them out of my bag and use them in place of it. When I am at events or conventions, it’s a really lovely option.

The knife is made of wood, but does cut just as good as a plastic pair, the fork works as a fork should. The spoon is very deep, good for soup, but a bit of a “sharp” edge for me personal, who seem to like softer spoons – sure beats a spork though, which is often the only thing around! This cutlery set is of high quality and does the job – it doesn’t stain, which was my big worry, and is easy to wash along with any other type of dishes you have to wash.

When it comes to carrying around metal cutlery, something you probably already have within your home, I have found that it’s pretty clunky and loud (when stored within a metal tin). My brother carries around a metal fork, which started when he decided he didn’t care for the cutlery that was provided at the school. He couldn’t carry around a metal knife, as that wasn’t something he was comfortable with, so he settled for plastic when needed. I do find having this set isn’t loud or clunky and it doesn’t take away from the cutlery we use at dinner time. Instead, it’s a special pack for my bag that’s smaller, less clunky, and contains everything I need. It’s a simple set of three eating utensils, which can easily be placed into your bag and used in place of plastic. One change can make a difference over time, and it’s a good set to have. You can purchase your own Mahogany Cutlery Set on Global 1st and start cutting back on your plastic cutlery use yourself.
