Miaoka Cat Cafe – Small but cute cats

Dann and I both really like going to cat cafes. We have gone to quite a few, in a few different countries, so we always keep our eye out for little cats in windows. While walking back to our hotel from a tourist stop, we spotted a cat in a window, which turned out to be a cat cafe! Miaoka Cat Cafe was quiet when we went in, as we came in at a strange time for a Monday I think, and so we had the place to ourselves.

When you enter, they explain that there is a 5 Euro minimum for anyone wanting to go in and see the cats. This is a very easy to make minimum, as one drink would be enough to cover it. We both grabbed drinks; me getting a strawberry boba and Dann grabbing an English breakfast tea, along with a cake to split as we weren’t that hungry but it looked very good. The boba tea was very good and had lots of bits in it; brown sugar tapioca pearls, bits of soft coconut and strawberries. Dann’s tea came out in a cat-themed cup, which was cute. The cake was a strawberry cake with a soft cream frosting and some soft sponge that was quite thin. Everything was perfect.

The staff had us wear these sort of gloves on our feet, which didn’t fit over our shoes, so we took them off and put them on our feet. They they explained the rules, which are pretty straight forward. Don’t pick up cats, don’t pet them if they are sleeping, no feeding them human food, and to be quieter in the area. We then entered and saw they had a treat machine where you could get treats! As we didn’t have any cash on us, we went to the counter and purchased a treat to split among the cats. Though the room was on the smaller side, being one big room, there were plenty of cats and many of them were really interested in us!

This smaller, curly haired cat at Miaoka Cat Cafe was called Lola, and she was obsessed with Dann! She wanted to sit on his lap, she clawed at his bag, and very much just wanted to go home with us. The cats all seemed very friendly and there were a bunch of different breeds. A big board showed pictures of them along with information on each of the cats. We got to cuddle and pet so many, especially when we had treats of course. There were also toys in a little toy corner, but we didn’t end up getting any of them to play, as they seemed to mainly want cuddles.

The general vibes of Miaoka Cat Cafe is very cozy and fun. I really enjoyed my time playing with the cats and eating their little pastries. There are some little trinkets that you can purchase at the counter as well as savoury food, so it’s great for a little lunch or brunch in the area.
