We absolutely love to see new events and activities pop up near our house. The Wild Retreat, previously CRE8 where we glamped a few years back, is now under new management and is looking to build a more community vibe, with tons of fun activities out in nature. The Wild Retreat has starting running a monthly movie night, with their first movie being a fantastic choice; Inside Out. Though we have seen Inside Out before, it’s one of those movies we all very much enjoyed and wanted to see in a new environment.

We arrived at The Wild Retreat and the fact that it was under new management was instant. There was so much more decorations, clear activity stands, and just a different vibe. As it was our first time at this re-newed camp and it was their first time running a movie night, we weren’t completely clear on a lot of things. The start time on the ticket said 7pm, but on the graphic it said 6, so we arrived for 6. When we got there, they explained this was so that people could get pizza and check out the area, so we looked around and chose the best seats.

The movie tent is a big outdoor tent, filled with mats and places to sit, which felt very cozy. The movie was played on a projector in the middle of the tent and it was very easy to hear everything through the speaker. Outside the tent, we explored the stage, the various swings, Robin loved the hammocks, and we took a look around. I honestly wish we explored more, as I was very interested in all of the changes that were made. I then headed over to the pizza oven, which is one of those woodfire pizzas, and got the special pizza. Each movie night, The Wild Retreat have set up a special pizza – at 10 quid a pie – with this one being a cheese sauce, two cheese pizza with broccoli – a reference to Riley getting broccoli pizza when she moves to San Francisco.

We all really enjoyed this pizza – apart from Kai who had a bite full of broccoli and just didn’t want anymore. I really liked how seasoned the whole thing was! They also brought out sweets to share around, some soda, and I think there was popcorn for everyone too, free of charge. There isn’t a lot of options to purchase snacks, so we had brought our own drinks and snacks, which we ate. I did grab some of their natural energy drinks, which was very interesting.

When it comes to the actual cinema at The Wild Retreat, it is outdoor and we did bring blankets with us. There were some mosquitos – which Dann really struggles with, but once we mentioned it, the owners lit some incense which really did the trick. There is a big feeling of community at The Wild Retreat – everyone is extremely friendly and it feels like after going once, you’d really know everyone there and be apart of their family. We enjoyed our time under the stars and Robin and Amelia have asked what their next movie is and if we can go again.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
That is so so so cool…I love outdoor movie nights, they’re so much fun. I haven’t gone to one in a while, but you reminded me how amazing they are…This Summer for sure.
What a fun place to go as a family to watch a film. I am definitely going to look at visiting with my family
That is so neat! I love the big tent to relax in and watch a movie
I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a movie than outdoors like this. It sounds like so much fun.
Wild Retreat looks like so much fun! I love combining the fun of a movie night with the outdoors like this.
