As mentioned previously, Doughnut Time has done a few Christmas DIY kits! We tried the Gingerbread ones, and then ordered up the basic Christmas DIY Kit as well, to see how they compared. This box came with a variety of different Christmas-themed donuts and candies, which is really quite a fun family activity. The idea is that you can decorate these doughnuts, however you’d like, using the variety of different toppings and icings in the box.
We have been making the various Doughnut Time kits all lock down, checking out the Cookie Dough Sando and the Design-Yo-Own 2.0, impressed with the idea of creating our own donuts and putting them together with various bits of decorations. Doughnut Time then announced a few different festive donut kits – so I am sure this won’t be the only one featured during Blogmas! The Gingerbread Doughman DIY Kit is actually a vegan kit where you get to fill your own doughnuts – something we were very excited about!
After really enjoying Doughnut Time’s DIY doughnut kit, we wanted to test more of them out! Thankfully, they are releasing new kits and collaborative kits all the time, so the next box we picked up was the Cookie Dough Sando Kit. This kit is focused around making a doughnut sandwich, stuffed with chocolate and cookie dough! Like all of these kits, the doughnuts were baked fresh and sent right to our door, for us to decorate and play around with!
This kit had six doughnuts instead of the default four, which is quite nice, and all of them are square! It is suggested that you roll all of these doughnuts in the cinnamon and sugar provided, then cut them in half for decorating. This kit came with two pots of cookie dough, a pot of mini cookie cereal, Nutella in a piping bag, a kinder Bueno bar and a Caramac bar. We split apart the different candy bars and placed them into little bowls before letting everyone create their own doughnut.
Many members of our family ended up opting out of the cinnamon-sugar coating and instead put them into their doughnut, but that’s part of the fun when it comes to Doughnut Time’s create your own kits. Splitting up the candy, cookies and dough, there was plenty for all six of the doughnuts to be fulled well and we enjoyed creating our own sandwiches! They were also super fun to eat. I’ve never had a doughnut sandwich before and quite enjoyed being able to make our own! You do need to be a bit of a chocolate lover for this kit, as it’s so heavily chocolate based, but who doesn’t love a bit of chocolate?
If you are looking for an easy and fun dessert to make with your friends or family, these kits bring all the fun to your door and really take out the stress of trying to bake something and put it together.
Though I am not the biggest fan of donuts, my family is, so while looking for fun and new things to do, I came across one of my favorite donuts places doing an at home, decorate your own donuts kit. Doughnut Time has a few different options when it comes to their design your own donut kit, which we are probably going to try again after these went down so well, as I’d love to try some of their other toppings, but to start we got the Design-Yo-Own 2.0 kit.
