[Ad- gifted product] Robin is a really big fan of Peppa Pig. She enjoys watching the show on Netflix and we’ve also got a couple of toys – she even used to have Peppa Pig bedding. Earlier in this year, we reviewed the My Fairy Garden Fairy Garden set, which did belong to Amelia, but Robin really loved helping out with it and really wanted to be involved. She’d keep going out to check on how the grass was growing and would play with the little characters that came with it. Ever since then, we’ve been growing plants and such through some of the nature box subscriptions we do, and she has really enjoyed watching flowers grow, and planting stuff together. When we came across the Peppa Pig Grow and Play Pot, we were excited to see what Robin would make of having her own little garden set.
The kit itself is very simple – there is a cute pot home for Peppa (or her various other siblings and friends, depending on the pot you get), as well as some plastic toys to play with, as well as a seed packet. You will need to provide your own dirt, fill the pot, adding the seeds and then a bit more dirt on top. Robin had no trouble putting together her pot and playing around with Peppa, birdy and the shovel. Once she was done, we placed it on the windowsill and waited.
After a few days of watering, there were sprouts and soon little leaves. This kit made a lot of mustard microgreens, which we snipped off with scissors and used on a recent salad. Despite Robin saying she ‘didn’t really like salad’ adding in these bits of plants that she had grown herself added an exciting aspect to the salad. She kept saying they were really delicious and that they tasted so good. If you have a picky eater or want to introduce a child to growing your own produce, then the Peppa Pig Grow and Play Pot takes something that they are familiar with and brings it to the table (in more ways than one) which can make both of those topics more approachable. Also, mustard microgreens are, in fact, delicious.
