Our family really loves light trails. We’ve gone to many light trails in England, as well as exploring some in other countries across the world. When I recently went to Krakow for a work trip, I saw a light trail and just had to check it out. The Peter Pan Light Trail in Krakow (called Piotruś Pan – Ogród Świateł) is primarily aimed at younger children, but that didn’t stop me from having a fantastic time.
The Peter Pan Light Trail was really a love letter to Peter Pan. At the very beginning of the trail, there were a few different light sculptures that were created based on drawings by local school children. This is such a lovely idea, and I would personally have loved to see my friends or my own drawings brought to life in a beautiful light show, that we could come and see. It feels really in the spirit of Peter Pan and being a fun loving child! The trail itself was pretty free flowing, and I went on a rainy day, so there weren’t many others around.
Many of the light features were perfect for taking pictures and all of the trees in the area were decorated in a bunch of different colors of lights. There was a giant archway with Tinker Bell, in different poses, that welcomed you forward on the trail. Beyond these flat, sort of features, there were many 3D elements. Scenes of children playing pretend, with Peter Pan’s shadow lurking in the corner feels so joyous and vibrant, telling the story of Peter Pan through these different showcases and scenes. Wendy can be seen reading in her room, next to Nana, while the boys play.
Scenes from the movie or book, where the children fly off into the sky, are beautify portrayed, with the buildings and tress having more whimsical colors then they would have had in real life. The scene where Peter Pan and the Lost Boys meet with the Native Americans were featured, along with Captain Hook’s boat and crew. There was even a big cave with a bunch of treasure, which I guess is where Captain Hook might have stayed at some point. I am a bit rusty on the story! There are also mermaids and the crocodile featured – everything is very well thought out.
Other areas of the trail contain fairies, much like Tinker Bell, hanging out and doing different fairy-like activities, like crafting. There were garden like areas, with giant flowers that were made of lights, so you could pretend to be a fairy yourself. Giant mushrooms, and colorful frogs or bugs feature in these places, which feel magical and whimsical.
Along the Peter Pan Light Trail, there are also a bunch of different places that you can take pictures, with the name Ogród Świateł on signs, which is really nice to have. There was also a large Ogród Świateł sign to take a picture near too. There are also different questions about the story, both in English and Polish, with multiple choice answers. The Peter Pan Light Trail really did feel like it took the story of Peter Pan and brought it to this park, bringing in all the magic and color that comes with it. The trail doesn’t have a time limit and feels like a really good size, especially for the ticket price!
