Power Hungry Pets – Simply based on luck!

[Ad- gifted product] From the creators of Exploding Kittens, Power Hungry Pets is a new, easy to play card game with not a lot to actually remember. In this game, you’ll need to bluff and luck your way to victory. Often we find with Robin’s age (she’s 8 years old) that she gets overwhelmed with card games. There generally is just too much going on and she needs to be in a team, but Power Hungry Pets doesn’t have that issue at all.

In this game, each player has one card in their hand. This starting card is completely down to luck, though one card is randomly taken out of the draw deck and put to the side. Cards have a number on them and an action. You can win at the end of the game by either being the last one standing or having the highest number on your card. Honestly, when we played, we ended up eliminating each other far before getting to the end of the game, but if you are lucky, the game ends when there are no more cards in the middle of the table to pull from. At that point, everyone reveals the number and the highest number wins.

Your turn actually consists of drawing a card from this center pile and comparing it to the card in your hand. You then need to play one card and do whatever action it says on it. These cards are quite interesting; a zero can win at the end of the game if the other player has the ten (King Cat) card, for example. The five can force any other player to play the card from their hand, without doing the action, and force them to get a new card. If that’s the King Cat, they will instantly lose the game. Battle Bunny, which is a three in the game, really took out a lot of our players! This card has you secretly compare the card in your hand to a card in the hand of a player you choose. The card that has the lowest number is eliminated.

Having just one card at a time makes Power Hungry Pets a very easy game for children to play, but with the strategy that comes with playing cards and guessing numbers, etc, there is enough going on to keep the interest of teens and adults! The artwork on the cards are very classic to this brand, showcasing cute yet slightly creepy characters. At the end of the round, the winner gets a crown token, and as the game is so short, you’ll keep playing until someone has a specific number of tokens, based on the number of players. Power Hungry Pets is based on the game Love Letters, which I am told is a classic, but my memory tells me that this is a much simpler version of the game.

It is great that this card game is easy to play for younger kids. I also find that if there are too many rules to remember it can get a bit overwhelming. Power Hungry Pets sounds like fun.

I’m thrilled to hear about Power Hungry Pets, especially coming from the creators of Exploding Kittens! It sounds like the perfect card game for families, especially with younger players like Robin. It’s refreshing to find a game that’s both easy to play and doesn’t overwhelm younger players with too many rules or complexities. The fact that it doesn’t require team play is also a big plus—it allows everyone to enjoy the game independently.
