[Ad- gifted product] World Book Day is right around the corner, so children all over the world are getting ready to dress as their favourite book characters! As an American who never had school uniforms, I always get excited whenever our children can dress differently at school, as a way to express themselves, and what better way then to be inspired by a book that has really stuck with them, to share that book with others. This year, Robin wanted to go as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, mostly because she thinks it’s super funny that the bug eats so much!
When it comes to purchasing anything, we always want to support small businesses, especially those that are family run! Pretend to Bee is a family run business that has been selling durable, well made dressing up costumes since 2005. Thought their costumes are not official, they are very high quality and match well into various different books. Our Caterpillar dressing up costume is actually really easy for Robin to get in and out of on her own. The sides of this costume are open, which gives her a lot of wiggle room too! Robin can easily use the Velcro to adjust the neck as well, so it’s very comfortable for her and the head can sit in a way that feels good on her head. There is just a high quality mark on these dressing up costumes, and it is clear that they are designed with independent play in mind.
Pretend to Bee has a bunch of these different costumes to allow children to pretend to be princesses or doctors or pirates! There are so many options you could easily create a wardrobe for those who love to pretend and have a big imagination. Using these dressing up costumes to link to books really does help encourage reading and children’s interest in reading. Robin’s hobby is currently reading, so allowing her to be able to dress up, easily, as different characters and act them out like they were in the book is a great way for her to expand her hobby!
Oh that is so much fun to dress up as your favorite children’s book character. I would love to dress up as Pippi Lingstocking, with the orange braids and all.
omg she looks so cute lol The cutest caterpillar, a very hungry caterpillar actually, she is eating everything lol…
My eyes stuck on world book day. And yes I too love to support small businesses.
P.S just like Robin I love reading too.
Oh, my kids would love this site. There are so many choices for kids who want princess costumes.
This book has been a staple for little children. I remember reading it to my daughters when they were 3, 4, and 7. Now they are adults and teenagers. Thanks for sharing!
I am loving the hungry caterpillar costume. Our kid’s have moved book day until next week so I still have time to prepare
That is so adorable actually! I used to love dressing up when I was little…it’s so important to encourage that imagination early on.
How adorable! I always loved this book and the costume is so stinking cute, I bet my son would have loved it when he was smaller too.
This is a day that i have not heard of. It sounds like a fun day for children to play “dress up”.
