Purchasing Second Hand with BuyCharity

[Ad- gifted product] Often, I dive in and out of charity shops to find some second hand items that I need for my home. Clothing, home wear, furniture – all of that purchased second hand not only saves me money, but is much better for the world. Ensuring that items are used to the fullest is something that we always try to do in our household, and second hand clothing is something that is just so easy to do. When the pandemic hit the UK, I missed charity shops loads.

Since then, however, an online charity shop has popped up! BuyCharity takes gems found from various second hand and charity shops all over the country and brings them to one site, where you can purchase them to be delivered right to your door. There are tons of different categories, from clothing to homeware, to gardening stuff and all of the money you spend goes right to charity – which is of course a huge plus. You can shop general categories or select a direct charity and purchase through their curated page, which provides a really interesting way to explore through various finds, filter your search, and get to know new charities.

I really like how the various charity pages are set up, giving you a big blurb on what the charity does and about them as a hole, before showing you the various items in their shop. This way of exploring makes purchases feel far more meaningful and you can understand more about where your money is going! When it comes to sustainable fashion and purchasing second hand, I often never find my size, but Dann on the other hand always finds his! So we went on to look for some men’s vintage clothing and Dann ended up picking a lovely jacket. As this selection is from BuyCharity, there is only one in the shop and he has it now, but we have seen lots of other amazing jackets and finds pop up on the shop since then too.

Dann chose a suit jacket because it feels like a versatile accessory, which can be warn with a bunch of different items. It’s something that layers well, that can be warn casually or dressed up, and everyone always needs a few suit jackets in their closet to choose from. He liked the color and design of this one – and it was in his size – so he instantly got it. It came in the mail, packaged well and quickly, which was super convenient for our household. Dann has quite enjoyed this jacket so far, and it’s been great exploring the website, seeing new charities, and learning how charity shops can evolve with the times.

I struggle to buy clothing from charity shops because I am a larger size, but I need to try it more for accessories and homeware as you can grab some great bits x
