[Ad- gifted experience] When it comes to activities that Kai is particularly excited for, there is only really a few. Laser Tag is his current go-to, so when we learned about the Gelblaster option at Scorpion Airsoft, we were pretty excited to take Kai to a thing that is sorta like Laser Tag, but also sorta more hardcore in a way! Gelblaster is a way of playing Airsoft, however the “pellets” within the gun are actually soft, gel beads that don’t actually hurt.
They describe this entire thing like a less messy paintball and a less painful airsoft game. We also had two options; a harder mode where the gel would go further and you’d feel it a bit more and a less hard version where they don’t fly as far, but it’s better suited for younger ones like Robin. After selecting this mode for all of our blasters, getting a safety briefing, and getting on our eye wear, we were ready to start our Gelbaster rounds!
The arena at Scorpion Airsoft is actually inside of a building, with quite a bit of space in it. It feels a lot like an airsoft area instead of a laser tag area, but this arena wasn’t so dingy and full of weird war stuff. Instead, there were tons of neon lights, loads of glowing posters of things like astronauts in space, and a lot of glow happening all around. We also got vests that glow a lot in the light – there was just a lot of neon glowing!
Our Gelblaster also had a glow function on it, which was very useful when it came to the dark nature of the building. You could see where you were going and such, but without the glow, you cannot really see the bullets, so it’s more challenging to tell if you are hit. This glow mode turns a light on at the top of your blaster, which very quickly charges your gel bullets. On the blaster, there is also an automatic fire mode, which fires one bullet at a time, and an automatic mode that fires much quickly, but has a cooldown.
All of us had a fantastic time at Scorpion Airsoft playing in the Gelblaster event. There was two different game modes; the first being a team death match, where everyone can respawn by going back to their base and the second being a capture the parcel and bring it to the opposite base type game, that had us looking for a suitcase and trying to move it, dropping it whenever we were blasted and dead. The arena wasn’t too big, so going back to our base didn’t feel like a chore – but we also had the arena to ourselves, so didn’t always enforce instantly going back to respawn and instead had a lot of fun. Kai spent some time acting out his deaths and pretending to plot against Dann and I, who were on an adults team. Robin ran around for the entire time, which she never does at laser tag, likely due to the heavy vest you need to wear. Amelia also had a fun time playing and going around.
When we arrived, I honestly didn’t expect our girls to like the games as much as they did – but I think it’s a mix of the arena being so fun to explore, the glowing bullets, and the size of the place not being too big at all. The staff were all very helpful too and more than willing to help out when needed. It’s neat to be able to see something bridge the gap between airsoft and a children’s game!
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
I would love to do that with my family! It looks like a ton of fun.
This is so so cool! I would love to go to something like that with my son, that would be so much fun.
I have always wanted to do something like this. How fun is it? It sounds like the most fun ever. I am going to look into having a fun time like this soon. Thank you for sharing.
What an exciting find! Laser tag is always a blast, but the Gelblaster option at Scorpion Airsoft sounds like a thrilling twist. It’s great to discover new activities that cater to Kai’s interests and offer a unique experience. Gelblaster’s combination of airsoft with soft gel beads adds a cool twist to the game, making it both exciting and safe.
This looks like sooo much fun! Something so different and fun to do! I love it. Definitely need to find something like this!

I have never heard of this before, it sounds like great fun. We have tried laser tag a couple of times and also my son has been to paint ball. Airsoft Gelblaster sounds great. We will have to look it up.
This looks like a blast! I’ve never been to an airsoft place, but it seems like it would be a lot of fun.
My husband and my kdis would absolutely love this place! I love the lights too and it is the perfect spot for some family fun!
I love the colors in this blog post. I may suggest something like this for a staff outing at the organization. Thanks for sharing!
Jupiter, your Gelblaster experience at Scorpion Airsoft sounds thrilling! The neon-lit arena and glowing bullets added extra excitement. Can’t wait to try it out myself! 🚀🔫
Sounds like Kai had a blast (pun intended) at Scorpion Airsoft! Love the glow-in-the-dark arena,
Never heard of this before, but it seems like a fun version of paintball. I wonder if I can find this in Belgium
