Making Spooky Focaccia with Wright’s Baking

[Ad- gifted product] We’ve had focaccia from the Wright’s Baking line previously, as it’s literally Amelia’s favorite thing to bake and decorate. So when she suggested we use the Wright’s Baking Rosemary and Garlic Focaccia Bread Mix to create a giant loaf of spooky Focaccia. Focaccia is often a time-consuming and challenging bread to make, but with this mix it’s very teen friendly and Amelia can make the entire mix on her own.

The focaccia mix is one where you just add water and oil, so I took everything out of the kitchen, popped them on the counter, and left Amelia to it. She measured and made up the bread – but then there is a bit of waiting. Letting the bread proof, moving it to a pan, letting it proof, dimpling it, letting it proof, and then adding the toppings before – you guessed it – letter in proof again. This is needed so the bread is airy and like a focaccia is.

Once we had let the dough sit for half of the proofing times, Amelia and I started taking all of the herbs, vegetables, and other ingredients she could decorate the bread with out of the fridge. We always have a lot of things that could go onto bread, but Amelia selected a bunch of herbs, some carrots to cut into pumpkin shapes and a bunch of red onions. She didn’t go with celery or bell pepper, but did decide to grab some tomatoes from our garden and put those on too, as she loves the taste of tomatoes on this garlic and rosemary focaccia! She wanted to go for a sort of pumpkin patch with a monster face vibe for Halloween.

Amelia always creates what she wants to make on the cutting board before putting them onto the bread, which sometimes ends up looking a bit different from what she expected. Adding toppings onto your focaccia is a great way to work on your teen’s cutting skills – Amelia’s has really improved as she’s been baking these! Once she had the bread all decorated it went into the oven until it was done.

We ate our Wright’s Baking Focaccia bread with soup that evening, as it is such a fantastic bread to have alongside a nice, warm soup. We do tend to eat our focaccia with butter, especially when it’s warm. Amelia was very proud of this bread and the rosemary and garlic really do come through in each bite. It’s a fantastic way to create a spooky, themed side dish in such a quick and fun way!
