SuperThings is a series of toys that take everyday objects and turn them into characters! There are two new toys; the SuperThings Turbo Ice and the SuperThings Pizzacopter, which have been Robin and Amelia’s first look into the toy series. Both of these characters are extremely cool, with the Turbo Ice being based on an ice-cream motorcycle and the Pizzacopter being based on a pizza helicopter!

Turbo Ice is the villain that can shoot scoups of ice cream through his vehicle! This is really simple to do; you can load the plastic ice cream ball into the scoup, then use the handle to launch it. The vehicle comes with three ice cream balls, and two of them can be hung on the side of the motorbike for storage. There is also a big character, who is clearly the driver, and a smaller character who is clearly their side kick. These characters easily sit on the vehicle, and slot into place, so that they feel stable. Robin really enjoyed the SuperThings Turbo Ice – the launcher was really easy to use and it wasn’t long before she was lining up light-weight targets to then launch at! We both really liked the figure’s ice cream hair too!

The Pizzacopter was also a hit, having three pizzas that are shot out of the helicopter front, and can be loaded in. These pizzas do need to be the right way around, or the helicopter does get jammed. You can then fire them using a ring pull at the back of the helicopter. This SuperThings vehicle also came with a figure, a mini figure which looks like a minion, and three of the pizzas. Both figures do clip in nicely and feel good to move around. The top of the pizzacopter has propellers that look like pizza slices, which Amelia and Robin thought were really funny.

I had originally picked these for Robin, as I felt she still is really into these types of vehicle styled toys. She really loved them and felt they were really fun with their firing action and cute mini figures. Amelia, to our surprise, came over and asked to play with them as well, quickly coming up with little games that these characters could then knock down or routes they could battle. It’s lovely to see them so connected to a toy that isn’t based on a TV show or movie they had watched – and we do feel that is likely because of the food being used. Everyone enjoys ice cream and pizza! So it’s still making these toys relatable, which further makes their fun, interactive features something worth exploring.
