Mowchi Lakeside Review – New Bao Restaurant

Whenever there is a new Asian food place opening near us, we do take the time to visit! Mowchi opened a location in Lakeside, so we went on opening day, to try as much of the menu as we possibly could. Mowchi doesn’t have a huge menu, there are two types of fries and a handful of different bao. The bao itself falls under two types; regular bao buns and bao-gers, which are like huge bao buns on large burgers. We tried one of each food, and each got a tea.

Meeting Santa at The Tall Twinkling Tree

When driving somewhere, we saw a giant tree full of lights on the way. Our children wanted to go see it, so I started looking at what exactly this huge, peaking over the fence, light up tree actually was! It turns out, The Tall Twinkling Tree is the name of the place, and there is a lot more than the tree you can see from the road – you can actually book up an experience to meet Santa and tell him your Christmas wish. We had not met Santa yet, so decided to book it up.

A Day Out at Enlightened Colchester Castle

We aim to get to at least one lights trail with our children this time of year! It’s been a tradition for so many years, that we are running out of new light trails to take them too! Enlightened has a few different locations and is one of the first light trails we took them too, at Hyde Park. This is probably our favorite children-focused light trail, due to all of the interactive elements and children’s themed elements along the trail. This year, we went to Enlightened Colchester Castle, which was as amazing as expected!

Trying Two Greedy Pigs – American Style BBQ in Harlow

Dann and I are a big fan of food and love trying out new places to eat! As an American, American style BBQ is something that brings comfort to me. As it turns out, Two Greedy Pigs has opened – an American BBQ joint that primarily caters to takeaway, providing a menu of BBQ items and classic American favorites. It’s worth noting that the website itself is not very up-to-date with the food that you can get there, so it’s worth checking out the venue and ordering based on the signage, or you might miss some really lovely gems.

Two Greedy Pigs does have some covered seating, but isn’t a sit-down restaurant. You need to order at the window, though if you do eat in, you will be brought out your food and can eat at the tables provided. At this time of the year, due to them being so new, there isn’t heating in this area, so we opted to takeaway our food and eat it in the warmth of either our car or our home, if we could wait that long! The seated area is well decorated and feels like a family BBQ, so I am excited to use it during the summertime. The food when presented to those eating in was very well plated, so do keep that in mind as we got takeaway boxes.

A Day Out at Halloween at Cammas Hall

Cammas Hall is a local pick-your-own farm that we tend to go to every single year. We’ve done a lot of strawberry picking and have gone every year to their Halloween event, but this year it feels bigger than ever. Cammas Hall has a giant corn maze, a spooky child friendly walk, a teen-aimed spooky walk, a pumpkin volcano, massive pumpkin patch and actors around photo areas! It seems to keep growing each year, getting to be quite a big event. You will need to pre-book and pay an entrance fee to go into the spooky walk and pumpkin patch. The corn maze is a priced add on.
