While going to an event in Rochester, we wanted to go out for a nice meal! Dann got to picking a location, and as I had just gotten back from Madrid, he figured having a bunch of Spanish food would be fun. Dann’s grandmother is Spanish, so he had Spanish food growing up, however we don’t make much Spanish food and often don’t eat it. Dann excitedly selected Ole Rochester and it was a fantastic decision.
We do spend a lot of time at the beach! As someone who grew up landlocked, I really just love the beach and the sounds of the ocean. As we have three children that all love swimming about and playing in water, they love going to the beach too. We have a local beach we really love going too, but with so many sunny days in a row, we wanted to check out somewhere new and found Herne Bay Pier!
Dann and Kai are big fans of exploring castle! Last year, we had gone on a bunch of English Heritage sites, but we had not yet explored Rochester Castle. This castle wasn’t like any of the others we had been too. It wasn’t ruins or something recreated – it was a castle that felt very complete, with lots to explore, yet clearly wasn’t re-created in anyway. Rochester Castle is actually on a large lot of land, which you can see lots of dog walkers and other people exploring. These grounds do have some ruins on them, as well as signs and informations.
[Ad- gifted experience]Â We all really love owls! Our children’s school does photos with owls, Dann has done an owl walk, and all three of our children have spent a lot of time asking about owls and if we can have owls. We were overjoyed to hear that we could get close to and learn about a few different types of owls at Eagle Heights Wildlife Foundation!

[Ad- gifted experience]Â We love going along to the theatre and seeing performances. Recently, we have been taking the kids along with us, to a few selected performances, as Robin had gone to see the Nut Cracker at school and has been talking about it ever since. Recently, we went along to see Show Stopper! The Improvised Musical at Trinity Theatre – which was an amazing time.
