Despite summer being in full swing, we have been aiming at keeping our learning up in the Hadley-Sullivan house hold! Even though we have been taking many trips out and going on holiday, there has still been time for reading and learning. Robin has continued to enjoy her The Bear Can Read Koala Box. This month included a lot of information about a Bear Picnic, though we haven’t been able to organise a picnic with teddies due to how busy we have been, we had spent time going through the worksheets and reading the book in this month’s box.
This month’s box came with some sunglasses that are super adorable – shaped like little bears which is something that Robin has been in love with. There was also a little paper lunch box, for a picnic, which Robin spent time filling with toys and carrying around the house in stead of using for a picnic.
When it came to the books, I was delighted to find another blending book, which contained simple words at the start and then sentences at the end. Robin read this with ease, finding the pictures to be cute and enjoying her time going through it. The other two books, We Want a Dog and Right For Me were small story books, that continued with the theme of the worksheets within it. Robin found the dog book to be the best of the two, but I do feel that’s due to how much she wants us to adopt a dog “as a pet for our cat”.
The worksheets for this box were all remembering worksheets, which covered a bunch of topics we had previously practiced – something that I find is a really good idea as it goes over previously done ideas. One of the work sheets had Robin writing out full words, which was a big challenge that she took on well. The two worksheets that were more fun included pattern solving – one of Robins favorite subjects – and drawing hats or hair onto different faces. Robin asked me to draw a few outlines for her to color in, then enjoyed doing the rest of the pages herself. During her time coloring these faces, Robin actually spoke about different people, having all sorts of different hair, and that she has had friends with many different types of hair and colors. These sorts of conversations are so good to have, as they allow children to understand the differences – and she was able to draw some of the differences and talk about how unique and awesome they are. We have had the draw hair before, last month, but Robin seemed particularly up for it now.
Along with these books and worksheets, we got a few more cards to add to our flash card pile, which we go through all together from the first card to the last. The reading chart, which we still haven’t quite used due to just how much we read, included more bee stickers – which Robin has been using in her arts and crafts.
We are still really happy with these boxes and find them to be a joy. It’s so great to be able to ensure that Robin is continuing to learn, especially during the summer holiday, so that she can be all ready for when school starts up soon!
This looks like a great box for younger children to learn from. I am loving her sunglasses, super cute!
It’s such a fun box and so helpful too.
This box is so cute! It would have been perfect when my younger son was doing preschool at home two years ago when schools shut down.
Yeah, we started looking into things like this around that time!
From the sound of it, this would be great for my son. He would find those worksheets really helpful.
They are really well designed too.
These boxes sound like such a great option for young kids!
It is, and there are options for older kids as well.
I do love these subscription boxes because of the many surprises inside of them. I hope I can get these for my kids when they begin school.
Yes! Robin was so excited for the little glasses.
Looks like a fun box and a great learning experience for the little ones. So glad you enjoyed them!
We always do! And it’s such good practice for them too.
It’s good that you’ve kept up with stuff like this during the holidays to keep up the good habits. And those glasses are so cute x
It’s so good to make time for learning!
This sounds like a brilliant box. I wish something like this had been around for my two when they were slightly younger.
They do have boxes that are aimed at older children as well.
What a great box for kids. I hadn’t heard of this before and it would definitely be a great opportunity for kids to get creative and learn.
You should check them out, it’s such a great box.
I love boxes like this. I struggled a lot to get my little one to read – she eventually just taught herself. But I really love the look of this box.
It can really be a struggle to get kids interested in learning.
This box is so much fun! I am sure my nephew will love this kind of activity!
I am sure he would!
My niece would love to get this, I’ll see if I can get it for her!
It’s such a good box!
Love to have activities for the kids that keep their minds sharp over the summer! These look awesome.
It is such a good idea to keep up with it.
Isn’t this adorable?? I am sending this post to my daughter-in-law. I think my granddaughter would love it!
It’s such a great box!
What a fun and educational box! These would be fun to receive each month!
We’ve been enjoying them!
Thank you for sharing. We don’t have this age group at home.
There are options for other age groups as well!
