[Ad- gifted product] Short, silly stories can captivate the most reluctant reader, bringing them into short stories that are easy to understand which make them laugh. That’s the goal of The Book of Silly Rhymes, a slightly rude, super funny little book that contains quite a few poems. These poems are all easy to read, quick, and just simply funny.
When children don’t want to read, it’s hard to get them to actually sit down and really read something. The Book of Silly Rhymes have a bunch of funny, laugh out loud poems that are bite sized, easy for any child to read. Many of which have related able topics in them like the poem ‘School is Boring’ (pretty self explanatory) while others are more outlandish, like one about a crazy mama who rides a llama. A few of them are a bit rude, talking about children eating their boogers or wearing underwear on their heads. All of the poems come with their own single drawing, that perfectly captures exactly what the poem is about – completing the lovely rhymes and poems.
When we read The Book of Silly Rhymes, we were laughing out loud and saying ‘ewww’ at specific parts, picking our favorites to be the poems that mentioned cats – of which there are a few. From a maybe witch with a cat to a crazy cat lady with a house full of poo. The end of the book has a few different games – spot the difference, find the missing letter and a maze – which is a very cute touch.
The author of The Book of Silly Rhymes is written by Cheryl Lee-White, a blogger and mother of three who wanted to create something silly that encouraged children to read. The book contains text that is printed in the open dyslexia font, which makes each page easier to read if your children have dyslexia. This is her second published book, with her story book, also full of rhymes and funny moments, Pete the Cheeky Parakeet.
