Lunch and Cocktails at The Fizzy Tarte

The Fizzy Tarte

When it comes to eating lunch, Dann and I are not big sandwich fans generally, if I am honest. Though, we were wanting something light and not too hot when the weather was wonderful, so we took at chance at The Fizzy Tarte – a gastro-pub looking place, which serves sandwiches, charcuterie boards and craft cocktails! The Fizzy Tarte does more than just lunch and brunch. They have master classes in cocktail making and afternoon tea if that’s your thing too.

Classic Reuben and Monte Cristo

When it came to lunch, Dann picked the Monte Cristo and I picked the Classic Reuben! We also got a side of fries with garlic mayo to share. The Reuben was delicious – perfectly toasted bread, a good amount of sauerkraut, in a very nice bread. Dann’s Monte Cristo was described, by him, as a very fancy cheese and ham sandwich, which is what it is. Each of these sandwiches came with a little side of pickles, picked onions, and rocket covered in balsamic, which was very tart and sharp compared to the heaviness of the bread itself. The fries were super crispy, and the portion was very large for the price. The garlic mayo was very garlic first, just how we like it. The lunch was super satisfying.

The Fizzy Tarte Cocktails

Cocktails at The Fizzy Tarte were on their own menu. There is a page of cocktails that were designed by different bartenders, which is always something interesting to see. There were also a bunch of classics that have been given their own spin on, as well as some showstopper cocktails if you want to impress. I ordered one of their Top Tarte cokctails, called a TT Clarified Pina Colada, which had pineapple rum, pineapple juice, coconut water, coconut syrup, coconut rum, house-made anise Angostura bitters, clarified whole milk, and a creme brulee’d, rum-soaked pineapple, which was slightly more bitter than a normal pina colada but still quite delicious. Following the creme brulee theme, I had a drink with a creme brulee strawberry ontop, which was quite fruity and refreshing, though I do not remember the name nor can I find it on the menu.

Dann had a Cherry Delight which had disaronno amaretto, briottet cerise, briottet creme d’abricot, angostura bitters, walnut bitters and citric acid in it, creating a drink that tasted slightly fruity and very refreshing. He also got a drink decorated with star anise, which had a nice amount of foam on top. Dann really enjoyed this drink too, and found it to be perfect for the warm day!

We really enjoyed our time at The Fizzy Tarte and would stop there again for lunch or possibly for a master class in creating some of their cocktails!
