[Ad- gifted product] When it comes to stories, we tend to read many, many different stories each and every night. Robin, Amelia and Kai (even Kai!) are still interested in bedtime stories, so we are always willing to try out new ones and see what the kids think. Both Robin and Amelia have planted plans before – they have a few growing in pots in the back garden right now, so The Garden of Uncle Tim seemed like a perfect match.
The Garden of Uncle Tim takes you through a story about a family visiting their uncle. His favorite hobby is to plant things in his garden – both in soil and in the pots. He is then able to grow a beautiful place through adding water, fertiliser, and keeping his plants free from weeds. As you read his story, his garden is celebrated and used as an example of how amazing a garden can be, if you give it the proper care to grow. This book highlights everything you need to do, simply, to have a good garden – including asking your parents if you can plant the seeds in the spot you picked. There is a big focus on family and everyone coming together to celebrate someone else’s lovely achievement.
The Garden of Uncle Tim is a rhyming book, which has a good pace to it and a decent amount of words per page. It’s a fun one to read due to the flow of it all. The pictures in this book are really lovely – cute and colorful cartoon-esque designs that the children seemed really into. Robin, as one might have guessed, was really, really into this story declaring it a new favorite. After the book was done, she kept talking about her own garden, how she takes care of her own plants, and that she is a gardener just like Uncle Tim.
The Garden of Uncle Tim is written by Yoly Marshall, who was born and raised in Sucre, Bolivia. She left her homeland after she got married to travel around the world and become a mother. From an early age, she loved reading and creating stories, so she started blogs in both English and Spanish to continue to write. Soon, she started writing books and is now the author of many of them – which is quite the impressive fete.
This is definitely a cute read. something worth sharing to little ones and at the same time share some planting as well.

So important to teach children about gardening from a young age and this book looks like a great book to inspire kids to do just that

What a cute book to teach kids early about family and gardening. I love it because I haven’t seen a lot of talking about gardening. Thanks for sharing!

Dear Jupiter thanks so much for this lovely review. I am so glad Robin liked the story, it means the world to me!
Thank you so much for this lovely book!
I am loving this and this will be a great book for my god daughter 😉 She will love this one and I love the idea of teaching them about gardening as I think we should all try to grow our own produce… organically!
We really should spend more time growing foods!
