Welcome to Blogtober 2021 Tag

It is October once again, which means many blogs are taking on the Blogtober challenge! Last year, we smashed it out of the park, creating a Autumn or Halloween themed post each and every day for October – which was such a fun challenge. This year, we wanted to do things a bit differently. You see, we do post each and every day – and have so many amazing collabs in the works, that we feel it would be best if we continue with posting every day, but include an Autumn or Halloween themed post every other day, creating a further collection of Autumn posts. This sort of combines both the traditional challenge of posting every day with the theme of Autumn, which is something we enjoy including. As a start to our Blogtober challenge, much like last year, we have created a Tag and teamed up with a bunch of other bloggers that are also taking part in Blogtober.

What is your favorite fall accessory?

Jupiter: I really enjoy seeing everyone wear scarves. I never end up wearing scarves myself, but I love seeing them!

Dann: Are coats accessories? I like Fall because I get to crack out the warmer clothes, cardigans, sweaters and my big coat come out.

Where do you go to purchase new Halloween decorations / items?

Jupiter: My favorite place to shop for Halloween decorations and items is The Range and Home Sense. We tend to go to Home Sense to collect loads of Autumn and Halloween themed candles, starting as soon as they have them on their shelves. These are my favorite scents and I always stock up, to last throughout the whole year. The Range is much better for actual decorations and party surprise for our annual Halloween Party.

Dann: We normally clear through The Range and Home Sense, although last year I’m pretty sure we got some things from TK Max (including costumes) and even some bits from Morrisons. There’s a larger Morrisons a few towns over, and they have a small home section.

What is one autumn tradition you have?

Jupiter: Whenever I ask Kai what tradition we have in October, he always says Candy Apples! We have a bunch of different traditions, but decorating Candy Apples is the one that feels quite uniquely us. I always get loads of toppings and make up a big vat of caramel so that everyone can dip and create their own unique apples.

Dann: For me, Autumn is really just the starting to wind down of the end of the year. While there’s fun stuff like Autumn walks (it’s probably the best time of year for woodland walks due to the colours), it’s also the time of year where things like Stollen, Spiced Cider and Mulled Wine start hitting the shelf (or appearing as stalls).

What is your favorite Halloween Movie?

Jupiter: I really love Halloween Town! It’s a classic, it’s not too scary, and it holds up from year to year!

Dann: I think that Halloween movies might be more of an American thing, although I did watch the Halloween Town movies last year with Jupiter. Darker evenings remind me of horror films though, and for that, I’d have to go with classics like The Thing or Alien.

What is one candy you’d hope to not see in your bag while trick-or-treating?

Jupiter: I am not a fan of chocolate at all and dislike tootsie rolls. Those are the worst.

Dann: Anything with Coconut in. It’s a subtle flavour, sure, but there are so many better filling options: Lemon, Cherry, Orange, Sherbert.

Pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate?

Pumpkin Spice Scones

Jupiter: I really love pumpkin spice lattes and think of hot chocolate as a Christmas or winter thing!

Dann: Hot Chocolate: There’s so many options and varieties with it.

Coziest thing to wear as the weather gets colder?

Jupiter: I really love big, woolly sweaters. As soon as the Autumn chill hits the air, I am digging out my sweaters and living in them. I love the warmth, comfort and just cute-ness of a big sweater.

Dann: Oh, I guess I mentioned this earlier… but, getting out my big coat again is always a good time.

What is the coolest design you’ve ever carved or painted onto a pumpkin?

Jupiter: I always try to make the same, sort of default pumpkin, so I haven’t ventured to anything super cool.

Dann: Last year I managed to carve a moderately convincing Mr Saturn, from Earthbound, onto a pumpkin. It’s not only my coolest, but also the only time that my designs have gone to plan.

Do you prefer bonfires on an autumn evening or haunted houses once the sun is down?

Jupiter: I hate being scared, so I have never been a fan of Haunted Houses! I much rather hang out in front of a big fire, drinking something warm, and being around people who aren’t going to scare me.

Dann: Bonfires. I have so many fond memories of bonfires, some of the earliest because my Aunt’s birthday is on Guy Fawkes Night. Also, with that, there’s normally fireworks too!

What are you most excited for this autumn?

Hatter's Farm

Jupiter: I am most excited for pumpkin patches! I love going along and picking out pumpkins and gords.

Dann: Getting out and about amid those orange, autumnal leaves again. Oh, and the smell of burning wood on the wind.

I blooming love Halloween and have been buying goodies from Homesense ever since they first git their items out in August, it’s definitely one of the best places but there’s no where near as much as you see in America x

It sounds like you have a good plan for Blogtober. What a great start.
We don’t have a Home Sense near us but I wish they did. They are always so good for Autumn and Halloween accessories. I love the sound of your Candy Apples. x
