[Ad- gifted experience]Â Mayfield Farm has a handful of places to eat during the summertime! A few weeks back, we went to see Caine’s Pizza when it opened, and now that The Pig’s Head Pub has opened up, we went back over to try out their burgers. The Pig’s Head Pub is a part of the Churchgate Sausage Shop – so you know that the meats that they are cooking up will be premium. We went on a Friday evening, where the outdoor seating was full and everyone was having a great time. It is worth mentioning that they do have a breakfast menu,, if you fancy that.
Pastrami Burger

Amelia and I are both big fans of pastrami, so of course we got the Pastrami Burger at The Pig’s Head Pub. Now, to be clear, these are burgers with pastrami on top of them! They also had pickles, onions, cheese and lettuce, which makes for a great burger, along with a mustard sauce. We both really liked our burgers (Amelia got hers without cheese and sauce, opting to put on her own burger sauce you can add yourself). The pastrami was very peppery and there was plenty on each burger. It just was very, very tasty. All burgers came with a side of fries, though they do have fries you can purchase with toppings like pickle dust and truffle dust. I upgraded by fries to be pickle dusted which was very, very fun.
Crispy Chorizo Burger
Kai went with the Crispy Chorizo burger which had a bunch of chorizo fried off, on top of his burger, along with caramelised onions, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and burger sauce. He also added his own mayo to it too. Kai said his burger was really good – his was messy in a very good sort of way – and he said it was filling. The burger looked great, to be fair, and he had upgraded his fries to have the truffle seasoning on them which he thought was the coolest thing ever.
The Pig Mac

Dann opted for The Pig Mac, which is two of their burgers, which I should have mentioned are chuck steak burgers, along with American cheese, onion, pickles, lettuce and burger sauce – kind of like their take on a big mac. He ate this very quickly, saying it was so good and that the size of the burgers themselves were very good too. It is clear that there is a lot of quality in their ingredients and in their meats.
Build your own Burger
Robin, of course, went with the build your own burger which does have a bunch of very fun toppings like smoked bacon, stilton, a fried egg… but she picked cheese, pickles, and ketchup to go on hers. This very much works for younger kids, as they can just pick and put on whatever they want. She said her burger was “very yummy” and it did have a ton of pickles, exactly how she liked them, under the bun.
Sausage Roll & Wings

As The Pig’s Head Pub is a part of Churchgate Sausage Shop, they have a bunch of fresh, warm sausage rolls. So, of course we had to try one! We got the cheese and marmite sausage roll, as it is something a bit different. There was clearly a lot of cheese in it, making it quite moist, along with a bit of a deeper flavor from the marmite. The outside of the roll was flaky and perfectly cooked too. We also grabbed some of their hoisin wings, which were perfectly crispy and coated well with sweet and sticky hoisin sauce.

The Pig’s Head Pub feels like such a fantastic, local spot for some cozy food in the sunshine. The outdoor seating has blankets and just feels like a place that families can gather at. During the summer, they plan on having events and live music too – which we look forward to seeing.
