[Ad- gifted product] Amelia has been well into Cosmic Creatures: The Runaway Rumblebear, reading this book most evenings as her daily reading book. This book is all about little aliens, which look like cute pandas with long tails, who need saving! This book is a chapter book, with smaller, black and white drawn pictures throughout, looking like sketches from a diary.
Charlie, the main character of the book, has a robot called Random that helps her out. She discovers a rumblebear, which is currently stealing from the towns food. In a hope to bring the rumblebear home, she must keep him hidden so nobody punishes him. The rumblebear does not seem to understand what is going on, and keeps making loud noises and is forever hungry, making for a great adventure.
This futuristic world is quite different from the one we currently live in. There were previously machines and robots like Random, however many seem to have broken over time, with no real way to fix them. Even Random has some issues with their bot parts. Not having these robots to rely on has meant that the characters needed to make their own clothing and attempt to be more independent without technology to rely on.
Cosmic Creatures: The Runaway Rumblebear Book has lots of adventure, and feels like a relatable book, despite being futuristic. There are points when Charlie is being bothered by her little sibling and bits where she needs to do house work before she is able to continue on her adventure. Despite it being set in the future, the main difference seems to be the use of robots and the types of creatures there happens to be in the world. This book was slightly challenging for Amelia to read, but she really enjoyed the story and cute characters, so she was determined to read the whole thing.
