Eating Authentic Ramen at Tokyo Ramen Takeichi

Whenever we travel to any country for Pokemon Go, it’s likely that our friends Molly and Husky are there. And if they are there, they always recommend the best ramen places! Husky, like me and Dann, loves ramen – so he hunts out different places and tries them all. Tokyo Ramen Takeichi seems to be a franchise, with a few different locations, but we went to the one in Amsterdam! This chain started in Japan, known for it’s heathy ramens, and has expanded into Europe over the years.

Seaweed Salad, Takoyaki and Karaage

While in Amsterdam, Dann was doing some sort of “eat seaweed salad every day” streak, so he instantly ordered the seaweed salad. It isn’t super salty – this one had a lot of sesame oil and seeds, which was fantastic. We both very much enjoyed these! Dann also got the Takoyaki, which is something he always orders. It’s these puffy balls of squid! This one had shaved radish on the top, which felt quite refreshing on something fried. Often these have a sauce, this one didn’t, but the radish made up for it. I ordered the karaage, which is a fried chicken, that had a spicy sauce on it. I found it to be very tasty and crunchy, with juicy chicken thighs!

Ramen and Noodle Bowl at Tokyo Ramen Takeichi

Now, I am going to start this off by saying I do not remember the exact dishes Dann and I ordered as our mains, and there isn’t an online menu that shows them, but we enjoyed them so much they were worth writing up! Dann got a room-temp noodle dish, that had kaarage chicken in a more BBQ-ish sauce, instead of the spicy sauce of the starters. I really enjoyed this (Dann gave me a few bites). It was a clean tasting dish, really letting the flavors shine! I got a house special ramen, which was a spicy, creamy, chicken ramen that had tons of chicken in it! This chicken was extremely soft in a way chicken isn’t normally, and it all tasted so good. I loved the amount of spicy in it as well!

Tokyo Ramen Takeichi feels like a hole-in-the-wall ramen place, with a little bit of information on why their food is healthy and what their mission is. It’s quite nice to have a little ramen place that has some fantastic history and delicious food to boot – another fantastic recommendation.
