Eating noodles at UDON Bilbao Abando

After visiting the Guggenheim in Bilbao, we were all looking for a place to eat, so stumbled upon UDON Bilbao Abando. This Asian restaurant is quite nearby, has a sustainability award, and says they specialize in noodles. I am a huge fan of both noodles and Asian food, so was very interested in eating here. As they had some vegan options, for our vegan friend, we went right in to see if it was as good as expected.

Corral Chicken Roll & Vegetable Tempura

When I was browsing the menu, I did a double take at the sushi made with noodles. I absolutely loves these thin rice noodles, so was excited to order this sushi. I am not the biggest fan of fish, so I tried the Corral Chicken Roll, which had crispy chicken, some sort of sauce, and cheese on it. This was unlike any of the sushi I have ever had in my life, and I really enjoyed it. Right now, writing this, I am actually craving another roll. I also ordered some vegetable tempura, which came in a massive pile! This tempura wasn’t very flavorful and the dip that it came with tasted like nothing, so I would stick with the noodle dishes as that’s where UDON Bilbao Abando clearly shines.

Chicken Black Truffle Udon & Tokyo Passion Fruit

From the Autumn Specials menu, even though we were there in the winter, but the Chicken Black Truffle Udon took my fancy. Again, this just felt so different from the ramen and curry dishes that were on the menu. This was very creamy, with popped rice on top for a bit of texture. The truffle flavor was strong and there was tons of chicken thigh that was throughout it. I absolutely love udon, so enjoyed this pasta within my meal. I also got two Tokyo Passion Fruit drinks, which are made with sake, both of which were fantastic though the straw didn’t fit into the cup for some reason.

We had a good time at UDON Bilbao Abando, with a very unique mix of noodle dishes that would surprise anyone that went to eat there. I had a good time trying something completely new.
