De-Frizz Wave Tame Machine Hair Dryer Untamed | Review

Untamed

[Ad- gifted product] I have had long brown hair my entire life. My grandma was a hairdresser, so she use to trim and cut my hair as a kid. She liked long styles, so I did too. When I was a teenager, I cut my hair short and dyed it blonde, but I didn’t like it. Currently, my hair is thick and long at it’s original brown color. I haven’t ever found a hair dryer that doesn’t dry out my hair and make it frizzy. Untamed offered a new solution to this problem – one that makes a lot of sense.

You see, I do get my hair cut by professionals now that I am an adult. I go to the Open Barbers in London, one of the best barbers in the entire country, might I add. One of the first times I was there, my hairdresser asked if I wanted my hair blow dried and I said no, because it would become frizzy. They said that it probably would not if I used some essential oil on it, which they then provided and did to my hair. This oil protected my hair and didn’t make it frizz up. It was pretty neat, but felt like a process that I didn’t really want to go into just to dry my hair. Untamed has taken out that secondary step and combined both into one hair dryer.

Special Nozzle

The De-Frizz Wave Tame Machine Hair Dryer (what a name) allows people to insert essential oil into a slot on the nozzle of the hair dryer. This is a pretty easy process; you take the jar of argon oil provided and screw it into the special nozzle if you’d like to use a lot of it, or put the provided plug device into the top of the bottle and then screw it into the nozzle for more control over how much you want in your hair. Once you have your oil plugged in, you can then use the hair dryer like any other. Untamed has six different settings as well as a chilled button to put out a burst of cool air.

Using the Untamed hair dryer is straight forward, however if you are using the oil, you should stop when you hair is about 80% dry and switch to a different nozzle for the rest of the drying process. It’s basically like using any other dryer, apart from you can combat fizz with the use of the oil nozzle. It’s a genus idea that works well! In my time with the Untamed hair dryer, I have been using the argon oil with the plug so less comes out. Sometimes, when in a rush or impatient, I have put the hair dryer on full blast and top heat, which has heated up the plug significantly.

When the plug is heated, as it has metal bits on it, it’s really warm to the touch and hard to get out of the nozzle, but you can easily just let it sit until it’s not hot anymore. At one point, on one of the first uses, it did seem like some of the solution was steaming out after I had removed it from the nozzle, so I started doing a cool blast right before I was ready to switch nozzles, which cleared that up.

The hair dryer itself is very nice in quality and slightly has glitter on it. The nozzles are all well made – you get three of them, the other two being basic nozzles that are very good for use without the oil.

But… is there frizz?

Most importantly, my hair does not frizz up when using Argon oil while drying it with then Untamed hair dryer. The oil doesn’t have much significant smell either, so you can barely tell it’s in my hair. The company pitched this product as skin treatment, but for your hair, and it really does feel like it is fulfilling that. Drying my hair has been easy to do, it’s come out looking healthier and shinier than previously, and it’s a simple process to do. As someone who hasn’t used a hair dryer in years, I have started using this one and I really, really love it. I’m quite glad to be able to use hair dryers without all the frizz my hair seems to like.
