When it comes to vegan cheese, those who have not had much experience with it, often have a pre-determined decisions that the cheese can’t melt properly and can’t taste like milk based cheese. As someone who is lactose intolerant, sometimes I go for the vegan cheese option, and i can tell you from personal experience, they have come far. I got the chance to try Violife grated original flavor cheese, which seemed perfect for a pizza, so that’s what I did.
The Violife grated cheese is great for baked potatoes, pasta, pizza, and anything that you want to sprinkle cheese on to. We made a lovely pesto pizza, which is Dann’s current favorite. This pizza was made quite easily by taking a pre-made crust, adding on some pesto for the base, sprinkling on a health amount of cheese, then adding halved cherry tomatoes. We then baked the pizza at the hottest setting our oven would go, until it was done, took the pizza out, and added a bunch of rocket to the top to wilt on.
The pizza itself was lovely, but the cheese did far better than I had, at first, figured. I have previously tried vegan mozzarella, and it was great, though a bit watery. When it comes to the violife grated cheese, this cheese melted very well, becoming quite stringy. Though, the flavor was more similar to a cheddar, but one of the lighter in flavor then a mature cheddar. The texture of the melted cheese was stringy, almost like a mozzarella, and I could have easily put on less cheese and it would have melted fine. If I was severed this pizza at a pizza place, if someone said “it’s a cheddar, not a mozzarella” I would 100 percent not know that this cheese isn’t ilk based.
The fact that the cheese is already grated and easy to put onto whatever you are eating is really convenient as well. Violife has a range of cheese slices, grated cheese and block cheese, which we will be trying over the next few weeks to see what we think of them! It’s great to see vegan alternatives that act and taste like milk based cheese, and it’s great to be able to enjoy cheese that tastes like cheese, without any of the milk.
Vegan cheese yummm!!! I can’t wait to try out this brand, milk is making me very uncomfortable….

It’s really good how much this one melts. I’ve had vegan cheese before but it’s rarely melted as good as this. I do prefer grated cheese too as it’s so much easier to use x

I’ve seen violife a few times in stores. I have been tempted to buy it and give it a try. Glad it tastes like cheese.

I have honestly never tried vegan cheese but it sounds and looks like the real deal so I’m interested in checking it out!

I tried a local vegan cheese once and just couldnt get used to it! But I am glad that there are options for things like pizzas etc.
They have come a long way, I feel!

I quite enjoyed it! Though, it didn’t taste exactly like cheese.
