Looking for more animal-related days out, back before lockdown, for the kids to enjoy, we wanted to find a place that had a good amount of rides and other activities, allowing Kai, Amelia and Robin to see animals and have a bunch of fun! That’s when we came across Bockett’s Farm Park – a farm and amusement park with soft play, a cafe, indoor animals, out door animals, play grounds and so much more. When spending time at the farm, we ended up being there literally all day, from opening to closing, and we still didn’t see everything!
Bockett’s Farm Park Animals
When it came to the animals at Bockett’s Farm, there were several sections of indoor animals, out door animals, farm animals, animals that are just interesting… there was a lot to see! Some of the stand outs include the houses that were built for little rabbits, each with pun-titles and cute exteriors, with bunnies hopping around them! All of the kids got a kick out of reading the names of the shops in this bunny village and laughing at the different puns. Many of the goats which were around the farm can be fed – so we purchased food and fed them. Something Robin especially enjoys doing – giggling as the animals licked her fingers. Dann really enjoyed seeing a sugar glider so close up, and I was very impressed by a room which had a tunneling system all around it, with rodents moving between massive cages and making their way around the rooms.
Indoor Soft Play
Bockett’s Farm Park has two sets of indoor soft play, one set aimed at younger children and one aimed at slightly older children. The outside of the area for smaller children has a section for even younger children (under 3s) which is quite nice as well. We spent the majority of the time in the section for younger children, as it was much bigger and all three of the children could explore together. There was plenty of seating for adults, and the entire area was enclosed, providing a house of soft play all around you. All three of the children were really impressed with the massive, rainbow slides that you get to ride down using a mat. They lined up and went over and over, running back into the line each time. If they did get lost, adults could make it through the course and fit easily, which is a nice touch, as they all wanted to show us different areas inside the soft play. The larger kid’s soft play was more vertical, with less cool features, but still quite fun to run about in.
Bockett’s Farm Park Outdoor Games
Outside the main farm building, there were lots of options when it comes to continuing to play, from trampolines, to giant balloon things that you can bounce on, to various different play parks with interactive elements. Robin had a lot of fun exploring all of the little parks and testing out each slide, where as the older two really enjoyed riding go-karts, and bouncing on various things. I am pretty sure these in-ground trampolines are the reason why we now have a trampoline in our own backyard, having completely inspired them. The giant balloon was sort of like a trampoline, but filled with air and coming out of the ground – which all the kids still ask for to this day, as if we can just get one for our yard.
We paid a few extra pounds to go gold panning in a small area near a park. This area gave you the gold pans and a small bin, and the kids were free to pan and find gold for as long as they wanted. Once they found enough gold and were bored, they were able to trade in the gold for a little metal (which was basically what the cost of the experience went too) which is pretty cool. The kids spent longer on this than expected and tried to find all of the gold in the sand, which was a pretty unique and fun experience.
Vegetable Patches and Gardens
Around the further grounds, there were little vegetable patches and flower gardens, as well as animals. We took some time to explore these gardens, reading off any little signs and talking about the vegetables and flowers we found. Amelia and Kai were pretty interested in what could be grown, this time of year, locally. They’d never seen Purple Green Beans before and wondered what they’d taste like, and often found this sort of information interesting, even if we were only walking around them. Having these sorts of areas really does benefit the children,, as it showcases where foods come from.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
What a lovely place! I know that my daughter would enjoy visiting this park immensely, fantastic for a fun day together as a family. Thanks so much for sharing!
I do hope you can get along!
What a fun way to spend some time with the kids. We need one more adventure before school starts back up.
Yeah, it’s the time to go out before school is back.
I have not been here for years. I am sure my kids had a school trip there before and I had completely forgotten all about it.
It’s still such a great place!
This looks like such a lovely place and I love that are some vegetable patches – I think it is good to get kids interested in growing their own produce.
It is so good for them to see vegetables growing!
So many activities for kids to entertain them for hours! Sounds like a fun place for a family adventure.
It is a packed and full day that is for sure!
Beautiful place! I like that it has both indoor and outdoor activity areas. it’s perfect for the whole family.
Yeah the option of going indoors and out of the sun or rain is really nice.
