A Day Out at the Pusheen x Artbox Cafe & Boutique

Pusheen x Artbox cafe

I kept seeing the Artbox Cafe on Instagram – a cafe that serves different desserts, with a different character featured at the cafe for a limited amount of time. When it comes to holidays, the cafe also changes, having special Halloween items and Winter themed desserts. The cafe is split into two floors, the bottom floor is where you can get takeaway ice creams or drinks, as well as purchase a bunch of cute, themed items. As the theme was Pusheen, the items in the bottom floor was all Pusheen; notebooks, books, mugs, jewellery, sushi sets, tumblers, squishes – something for everyone. Upstairs, you can find a small, sit down dining experience where you can order from a slightly larger menu. Dann, Claire (who wrote her own post on this) and I went to the Pusheen x Artbox Cafe in the last week that Pusheen was there!

After picking up Claire, we drove down to Brighton, which did make this a day trip to see this cafe – but it was well worth it. After arriving in Brighton, we ate some savoury food for lunch, before heading over to Artbox. We went on a weekday, in hopes of more tables being available. You see, the Artbox Cafe is quite small, so often towards the opening time of a new character, you might have to wait a bit for a table. On weekends, it’s pretty busy. Going on a weekday, if you can, is really worth it – we quickly got a table and settled down into the menu.

Drinks

First, we ordered a few drinks. Claire got a very fancy hot chocolate, while Dann and I went with colder drinks opting for the watermelon splash and a winter berry drink. My watermelon splash was very good – it tasted like sweet watermelon and had a nice strawberry on top. It’s a simple but refreshing drink that I enjoyed, especially as a huge fan of watermelon. Dann’s drink was much more interesting – it was a cool drink that almost tasted spiced, with warm winter spices throughout it. All of our drinks actually had little paper Pusheens in them, which was a very cute touch. With your orders, everyone got a coaster that was Pusheen themed, there are a few different coasters to collect, which we could take home after the experience.

Lemon Dream Waffle

I choose the Lemon Dream Waffle for my main, which was intense! It came out as a large waffle, covered in lemon sorbet, meringues, a lemon cookie, whipped cream, white chocolate and lemon curd. This waffle was sweet – definitely a dessert. The lemon curd and meringues were my favourite bit, as the curd was a perfect amount of tart, really balancing out a lot of the sweet. For me, someone who doesn’t have a big sweet tooth, the white chocolate was a bit much, but it was easy to not dip into the white chocolate around the edges and keep to the waffle and it’s covering. My Pusheen decoration was a very cute Pusheen, asleep in a yellow blanket. Over all, the dessert looked beautiful and tasted great too.

Gingerbread Sundae

Dann went for the gingerbread sundae which had chocolate gelato, vanilla gelato and a ginger/cinnamon gelato, orange syrup, chocolate chunks and sprinkles. Though he wasn’t a fan of the round sprinkles (Dann doesn’t like things that seem like seeds, which can get stuck inside his teeth), he very much enjoyed the ice cream and other toppings! The gelato was so delicious, the chocolate was luxurious and very, very chocolate-y. The amount of spice in the dessert was delicious – it felt very much like a Christmas sundae.

Claire got a hot chocolate Sundae, which I didn’t get to try, but looked just as impressive as the hot chocolate she had! We took some pictures around the very decorated venue before heading back into the shop. There, I got two little mystery Pusheen boxes and Claire got a bunch of stuff. She actually spent enough to get one of the two free items you can get. If you spend £15 you can get a pencil case if you ate upstairs, and if you spend around £40 (I believe), you could get a mug. There were several exclusive items at Artbox Cafe, like pins and bags that contained some Brighton flare. It’s a really interesting idea, though currently, the Artbox Cafe is changing character themes. We all plan to go back to the next one too!

This post is so freaking cute! I read it yesterday but I guess my comment didn’t load. As far as I know we don’t have anything like this anywhere near us, I’ve never heard of anything in Canada although I’m sure Toronto probably has something
