Absurd Bird – Unlimited Chicken Wings | Restaurant Review

Absurd Bird

As it was our friend Quang‘s birthday, as well as Dann’s birthday this month, we decided to all meet up and go to Absurd Bird‘s unlimited wing Wednesday. They do have a time limit of an hour and a half, and none of us were shoveling food into our face, but we still got our money’s worth! The first order of wings you pick is a 8 wing bucket, with each top-up being a 4 wing bucket. This deal also comes with fries, but the fries were not crispy and not great – just some filler.

Korean BBQ & AB Buffalo

Absurd Bird

For our first round, Dann and I selected a classic buffalo while Quang went for Korean BBQ (which I then had later). The AB Buffalo was everything you’d expect from a classic, breaded wing. It was crispy, spicy, delicious! We went through these quickly, eating them down while chatting. The Korean BBQ was also lovely – more sweet and sticky – covered really well. The buckets are really cute (if messy looking) as they have their own designs on the side – I really liked this touch.

Nashville Hot, Hickory Smoked BBQ, & Peanut Butter and Maple

On the not so enjoyable end, we got the Peanut Butter and Maple wings, which seemed to just have warm peanut butter drizzled over the top, and a side of maple syrup. These wings were cloying – stuck to your mouth peanut butter, and once you let them get a bit cold, the peanut butter doesn’t do much justice. It’s wings for real peanut butter lovers, though we are glad we tried them. The other flavor we didn’t really enjoy was the Nashville Hot. Though rated just one chili pepper hotter than Buffalo, these physically stung to eat, probably due to the overwhelming amount of chili flakes on top. I tried to dust these off, but they just wouldn’t part. We also picked up some smokey BBQ wings, which we decent – a very basic BBQ with a hint of sweetness throughout.

Absurd Bird Ice Tea

Absurd Bird

To drink, we all got Absurd Bird Ice Tea, which is a very sweet, very refreshing ice tea with passion fruit on top. Dann found it a bit too sweet, but I really loved it (though I do love sweet tea myself). I loved the presentation of the glasses of ice tea, they looked really lovely.

Overall, Absurd Bird’s wings were okay – they weren’t the best we have had but they weren’t terrible. I found the service to be a bit slow, but I feel that could have been because of the time limit to do all you can eat, as service has been better when we’ve been there previously. Also, the fries were absolute garbage.

My husband would love an unlimited wing place. That’s interesting that they give you a time limit, though. It’s too bad some of the flavors didn’t taste great as there seems like an opportunity to make them amazing there.

Such a shame about the peanut butter and maple, they sound like they should be so good. I’m all for sweet drinks so that ice tea sounds great x

Well I am a vegan . I would love if you will review vegan dishes and tell me more about vegan restaurants. Sorry your experience was not as good as you expected.
