Dinner and Music at Revolucion de Cuba Derby

On our way back from Alton Towers, we often go out for food. This time, Dann picked out a place on the way back that wasn’t too far out of the way and that made sense with our timeline. That’s how we ended up at Revolucion de Cuba Derby – which had tacos, small plates, a fun kid’s menu, and some cute drinks that Dann thought I would very much like. Hungry and excited to be somewhere new, we all ordered far too much food and had a fantastic time. About halfway into our dinner, a live band came in and started playing fantastic music, which was really a huge highlight to our day.

Jamón Croquetas, Crispy Pork Belly & Cuban Fries

Whenever we go to somewhere new with new types of food, we often order a few things for the table, so that everyone can try new stuff. So, we grabbed some jamon croquetas, which are mash potatos and ham, coated in breadcrumbs, fried. We have had these before with our children, but it had been a while, so they were excited to see them again! We also got cuban fries, which were cheesy, seasoned fries that Robin ended up eating more of then her fries that came with her meal, and some Crispy Pork Belly. I didn’t love the pork belly, but Dann did. I think the sauce, with the rum and fennel, was a bit much – but everyone did try it.

Freak Marbles – Refreshed Classic

[Ad- gifted products] I remember playing marbles as a kid, at my grandparents house, where the marbles were in the back barn used for games of knock out. When we received Freak Marbles, I realized that Robin hadn’t played with marbles before, as it’s just not a thing for the newer generation – however Freak Marbles aims to change it all.

Harlow Rocks Rock Drop in Harlow Town Park

I have been apart of the Harlow Rocks group for over a year now! Often, when running our Pokemon Go group, we will do rock decorating days to give to the Harlow Rocks group. It’s basically a group of people who paint a bunch of rocks and then hide them in the town and beyond. These rocks are meant to be found and bring joy to whoever sees them. During the summer and Easter each year, Harlow Rocks does a Rock Drop event, where we all band together to try to hide a huge number of rocks! There are a bunch of other activities there as well. This is our third Harlow Rocks event that we’ve attended, this time on the Easter Monday as it happened to fall, which was very fun.

[Ad- gifted product] Dole is such a classic brand that always has a bunch of different fruit-related treats that are perfect for your packed lunches, picnics, or just a snack, especially in the summertime! We got the chance to try out the Dole fruit pot – specifically the tropical fruit in juice and the Dole jelly pot, specifically the mixed fruit in peach flavour jelly this time. There are just some of the different snacks that they have to offer, all of which are under 100 calories per pot. They are a great source of vitamin c, contain no artifical sweeteners, flavourings or colorings, so feels like a win when your children grab for them.

American Classics at Pinecrest Diner

Going to the Pinecrest Diner while in San Francisco for work, is something that basically every person in the area, going to GDC, does. The diner is open 24 hours, making it perfect for the first day you wake up, jet lagged, wanting both breakfast and lunch items all at once. It reminds me of everything that I love about America. Customising meals, unlimited refills on drinks, and a very simplistic looking place that has everything you want in it. Dann and I went right after we woke up, around 7:30 am local time (2:30 pm in England), so we were both rather hungry.
