For Dann’s Birthday dinner this year, he wanted to go along to Bang Bang Oriental Foodhall! We’ve previously gone a few times with friends, and had taken Kai, Amelia and Robin a few years back. As Kai has been on a health journey, and often is forced to have a lot of rest days at his other house or doesn’t have accurate calories counted for him, we don’t really go to places that would be frustrating or require a break. However, he’s been making his own food lately, so we felt now was the time!

If you are unfamiliar with Bang Bang Oriental Foodhall, it’s a massive foodhall that has a bunch of different places to eat food within it. You can easily order whatever you want, from whatever location, and are given a little physical notification circle thing, that vibrates and lights up when you food is done, so you can go collect it. There are plenty seating around the middle of the area, with smells of each of the places and fantastic views all around. They’ve also added a bunch of little claw machines around one of the corners of the food hall, which was fun to play on and Robin even won a little stuffed toy. But, onto the food!

Dann ordered some kimchi and beef jjigae, which is a soup with tofu, kimchi and beef. It does come with rice and is extremely filling! Dann is a big fan of this soup and gets it each time. I grabbed the crispy chili chicken with a big side of noodles for the table, as often when getting food from new places, it makes sense to get a few different dishes for everyone to pick at. The crispy chicken was very, very crispy. Amelia said it was almost as crispy as a Cheeto! The noodles were simple but delicious. Amelia also went with a pork bao bun, which she ate quickly, that she very much enjoyed.

Kai went right for sushi and started quickly, grabbing a dragon roll! This had salmon and avocado on the outside, along with tempura prawns through the middle. There were sauces on each and every little bit of sushi, and Kai really enjoyed it. Dann and I have previously made dragon rolls, which was a whole lot of fun. Robin really wanted try some katsu curry, which had rice and a lot of chicken. She ate a massive bowl. Dann also got a long, octopus dish which he shared with Robin and Kai. Kai found them to be very delicious with Robin trying some and saying they were nice too. Amelia didn’t care for them, due to how fishy tasting they are.

Amelia wanted to order some sweet and sour, crunchy chicken with rice, which she said was very nice! She ate loads of them. Kai ordered some takoyaki, which is a Dann classic, and quite enjoyed the toppings and cook of the batter. These were filled with little bits of octopuses. Kai also went for another round of sushi, going for the volcano roll, which had eel in it, along with a savoury, creamy sauce. He ate about half with Dann polishing the rest off.

Amelia and Kai also picked out some boba, and Robin got a coupon for a free ice cream for finishing so much of her mains. She grabbed a kinder bueno ice cream and otherwise just had juice. Everyone had a fantastic time out for Dann’s birthday, and we all are excited to go back to try more of the delicious food at Bang Bang Oriental Foodhall.
