A Day Out at Brick or Treat Legoland

Brick or Treat Legoland

We went hard going to a lot of Legoland special events in the last few years. Legoland became one of our favorite places to go too, and after a year of amusement parks, we took a bit of a pause this year and haven’t been visiting, however Robin really wanted to go to Brick or Treat. As this is such a fun Legoland event, we decided to book up tickets on the first Saturday of the event and go! This year, they have added a lot of new, fun things along with all of the key aspects of Brick or Treat.

Decorations and Characters

There are a ton of new and old decorations out for Brick or Treat at Legoland! We got to see the talking giant pumpkin heads again, saw the giant talking skeleton heads, and of course the various cut-outs of spooky characters. There was also a giant Lego pumpkin that you can pose behind and a few other little decorations here and there. These are always fun to see and make for great photos. There wasn’t any characters out that we could find, but according to the website, you can find some of the band members from the 4D movie walking about.

We did go to Lord Vampyre’s Disco where he DJ’ed and a bunch of people danced along with him! Lord Vampyre made a huge impression on all of our children last year, where he reacted to each of them in costume, so everyone was happy to see him again. While he was finishing his DJ set, we went on his Monster Party ride, which is a family favorite too. This ride is there year round, but there is a special mention of it, as it’s spooky. The wait time wasn’t too long either on the day we went. If you didn’t know, this is a spooky ride where Lord Vampyre invites you to their party. You will enter a room where there are a bunch of TV screens. Lord Vampyre will introduce you to the party and have a mini-dance party before inviting you in. Once in, you and your family will be sat on one side of the table. He will appear again and start showing you a trick – by making you go upside down in the room, rocking you and everyone else back and forth. It’s not a super intense ride, but it’s an optical illusion!

Brick or Treat

One of the main reasons we really love Brick or Treat is because of the trail. It’s a bit of a queue, but once you get to the end you’ll find yourself walking through a bit of a forest, before a monster will announce what’s going on. You see, you are being allowed to trick or treat at a few select monster houses! These houses are hidden away, as the monsters do not want to be seen by people. You do not need to dress up for this, but if you do, the reactions you will get is much better! We went Trick or Treating there and got a candy, a pop badge, and our own packet of Lego to build at home. There is lots of fun places for photos and plenty of actors to entertain you in this area!

The Great Monster Chase

We went to the 4D cinema to watch The Great Monster Chase, which was the same as last year. It’s still a really fun 4D experience though! The storyline follows a group of humans who are breaking into the monster-filled party to hear their favorite monster band. There isn’t any talking within the movie, and instead it’s based on grunt-like speaking and facial expressions. The people who break into the party are discovered as not being monsters, so they are chased out by Lord Vampyre! This then becomes a giant pursuit all around the pack, going on rides that you can actually go on during your visit. There are a bunch of instances of fire, foam coming down from the sky, and water being sprayed at us. It’s also 3D with lots of wind effects, really creating a fun experience. Even though we saw this last year, we all agreed it was great to see it again this year!

MiniLand and The Brick

MiniLand is of course dressed up for the holidays, with lots of little areas of spooky decorations. These are not in the same place as last year, though you still can find letters to spell a new word! I do like that they change this up each year, as it’s so fun looking at the little Lego world and finding the word! This year, Amelia guessed it with just two letters out of seven found. We enjoyed seeing how the little Lego world celebrated the holidays. Once you have discovered the word, you can enter The Brick to get your pop badge. It’s also worth mentioning that if you don’t want to find the word, you can get the same pop badge by creating a pumpkin-themed Lego at The Brick and getting it displayed for the day on The Brick’s showcase. We weren’t into building today so did skip this. At MiniLand, they do have a bunch of new QR-code games for different areas of the world. This wasn’t Brick or Treat specific, but is a cool idea!

Spooky Themed Foods

I am not sure if they had spooky themed foods last year, as we don’t really eat much at the park, but this year there seemed to be a lot of it! They had taken the stands from the winter event at Legoland, and filled them with spooky-themed treats like spooky brownies, cupcakes, cookies and more. This was really lovely to see, as I love themed foods! There was a new, giant cart for apple fries – the ultimate healthy autumn food, which are apples coated in a bit of sugar and cinnamon. There was also a massive sign outside the Pirate burger place, showcasing a red, monster burger with olive eyes. I really enjoyed the effort and really wish we got a spooky treat while we were there, but we had packed all of our snacks and food.

There was, of course, tons of other rides open on the day as the entire park is set up to run as normal, so we hit some of our favorite rides while we were there. Legoland continues to be one of our favorite amusement parks, and events like this really bring in new reasons to attend!

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
