Classic Afternoon Tea on Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour

Ever since Robin and I went on the Grinchmas Tour Bus last year, Amelia has been asking after going on one as well. The time finally came, the stars aligned with Robin and Amelia having the same day off of school while Kai was back at school, making it the perfect time to go on a tour of London with some snacks. We booked up an Afternoon Tea on Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour, which is a tour of London along with some classic afternoon tea food.

We went for a Classic Afternoon Tea, with tons of fancy little treats. The bus tour, like most of them I feel, start off at the Victoria Coach Station, where we waited for our bus tour to start. We had assigned seats that we picked, so we weren’t in any rush. Once they had checked everyone in, they let us onto the bus. We were upstairs, in a four-top so that Dann could also join us. This was one of the older, classic busses with a staircase that was half outside the bus! We walked up to the top and were shown our table, which already had our afternoon tea on it.

The cakes looked absolutely stunning, but we started with the savory items. The savories included a bunch of finger sandwiches; the cucumber and cream cheese needed salt and flavor, but the ham and cheese on a tomato bread was very good quality ham and cheese! The salmon, cucumber and herby cream cheese on a pretzel roll was pretty nice too, even if I am not the biggest salmon fan. We aren’t really a sandwich household, so the other savories were much more interesting. Amelia’s absolute favorite thing she ate all day was the mini mushroom quiche, which tasted really rich and full of mushrooms. The feta, tomato & red pepper muffin was my favorite savory, though Robin didn’t really like it. We also ordered drinks which came in special Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour cups. Dann and I both got chai, while Amelia got a fruit tea and Robin went for hot chocolate.

About 30 minutes into Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour, they brought around warm scones, jam and clotted cream. The jam was strawberry – sweet and delicious. The fact that the scones were warm was a very nice touch. They also gave us a second round of drinks and some waters. We then dived into the desserts, which were the most exciting part! I am not sure what everything was, but the little cupcake tasted of lemon. There was a small tart that looked a little like lemon pie, but had a coffee base with the whipped meringue on top. There was a small cake with a sort of green topping which tasted like macha – very floral as well. The best thing was the caramel and cream filled pastry, with different color tops and a bit of frosting. We all really enjoyed that.

The Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour is a London tour bus, so as it drove us around, there were educational bits on London. Between blasts of music, we heard about Buckingham Palace and the high streets we traveled on. It was interesting, though being on one before meant we primarily had heard most of this before and were just focused on eating and hanging out. The staff on the bus tour were also fantastic! In the last half an hour, they handed out containers to take home any food that we wanted to take with us. Amelia absolutely felt like this was worth the wait and Robin enjoyed it too!

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
