MEL Science – Luminescence | Review

[Ad- gifted product] As any regular readers will know, we’re happy to dip into a science-themed subscription box here. We’ve, most recently, just wrapped up the KiwiCo Tinker Crate, and so it makes perfect sense that we turn our gaze toward MEL Science, specifically their MEL Physics range; a kit aimed at a slightly older audience and specifically focused on decrypting scientific jargon into an accessible educational package. The first month we grabbed was based around Luminescence, and it was a fantastic example of MEL Physics’ boxes at their purest.

We ran into the MEL Science team earlier on in the year, while at an event. I was drawn to the stand by how professional each of the boxes on display looked. They had a simple, clear design, with one or two objects on the front, but a simple title down the spine. Each box was a single stark colour, giving them the look of classic school textbooks. The staff manning the stand gave us some simple demonstrations of accessible science but also introduced us to the App and the VR/AR elements that go hand in hand with their subscription.

Purchasing Second Hand with BuyCharity

[Ad- gifted product] Often, I dive in and out of charity shops to find some second hand items that I need for my home. Clothing, home wear, furniture – all of that purchased second hand not only saves me money, but is much better for the world. My Friend Peppa Pig – Children’s Video Game | Review

[Ad- gifted product] It is no secret that we are big fans of video games in our household. As both Dann and I work in video games as apart of our day job, we always have quite a few games and game systems dotted around our home. Robin, due to her age, doesn’t have that many video games in our household as there just simply isn’t that many made for her – but when she does find one she likes, she can rarely put it down! My Friend Peppa Pig is a new addition to the collection!

5 Unique Chocolate Advent Calendars for 2021

Updated November 4th, 2021. *AD – some items in this review was gifted to our household for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

When it comes to Advent Calendars, the classic is something filled with chocolate. As not the biggest fan of chocolate, I often spend some time trying to find advent calendars that contain different fillings, however, there are a bunch of really awesome, unique advent calendars that caught my eye! If you are a chocolate lover looking for something new, these are the calendars for you.

Mozart Marzipan Advent Calendar

The Mozart chocolate and marzipan advent calendar is one that really caught Dann’s eye! This calendar has an assortment of three different German candies, each with chocolate and marzipan. There are three mainc hocolates – Echte Reber Mozart-Kugeln, Mozart Herz’l, and Mozart Medaillon – which all taste amazing! This calendar does contain nuts, but is great for those who are a bit more sophisticated in the chocolates they eat and those who do love a bit of marzipan.

A Day Out at Belvoir Castle

[Ad- gifted experience] Dann is a massive fan of historical sites and of castles, so when we went out to the Engine Yard, to explore their new buildings shops and area, we then hopped over to Belvoir Castle – just across the road – to have a look at the grounds and inside. This castle was up a hill – a little walk from the car park, so we made our way there after lunch, excited to take a look at the grounds and then inside castle. What we didn’t realize was just how large the grounds themselves are.
