[Ad- gifted experience] Cattows Halloween Farm is a massive pumpkin farm that we had gone to last year, to check out the fair rides and all of the pumpkins too. This year, they have a new event under the name Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark. It’s an after hours, illuminated event that brings Halloween to an entirely new level, as there is so many bright lights and spooky haunts for the whole family to enjoy.
Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark is massive! We entered through a large tent, full of Halloween decorations, and are greeted by the fairgrounds. These fairground rides do cost per ride, with no wristband option, but are quite reasonable in price per ride. Amelia and Kai were a bit too big for a few of the rides, but still found some really fun ones to go on. The fair is in the middle of the grounds, with the food trucks being at the back end of the area. This food village only had a few food stalls open, but you could get your classic burgers, fries, nuggets, donuts, etc from them.
If you keep going beyond the food village, Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark features a large and well lit pumpkin patch, where you can find some traditional pumpkins to pick up. These pumpkins can be paid for at the end of your visit to the farm – and there are more near the exit as well if you don’t find what you are looking for in the patch. We thought it was a really neat idea to have a big light up pumpkin patch as you can really spend some time getting pumpkins.
Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark Circus
One of the major features of Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark is the circus! This spooky, night time circus is recommended for ages five and above, as there was one specifically scary act within it. There were lots of different acts within this circus. The opening clown started by fire breathing, then went on to some performances that had someone climbing up ribbons and falling back down. Everything was spooky in theme, giving a bit of a creepy vibe, which was a neat theme for a circus. There were some singing and dancing acts that didn’t quite fit in and felt filler, but also some amazing acts with a lady who could use her feet to balance and dance giant platforms and balls. In the middle of the circus there was a giant contraption with two circles at each end, that two people were able to swing around in and do amazing stunts. There was a motor bike and BMX bike trick show as well, which was very good. Over all, we really enjoyed the circus! The one act that was aimed at primarily over five years olds actually was a bit hard to watch for all of us, as it was a spooky looking sword swallowed who could also stick pins in himself – kinda hard to watch. He also could fold and bend really well, becoming flat to the ground. Though, anything done flat to the ground was really hard to see. It’s also worth noting that the clown does use audience participation, primarily bringing women into the middle of the circus.
Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark Corn Maze
Another huge feature of the Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark is their corn maze. As soon as the sun goes down, you can see the corn maze light up with different features. There is a queue to get into the maze and the staff do an amazing job of not letting in too many people at once, which is really appreciated. It really feels like there is plenty of time to explore without tons of different people all around you trying to take pictures. As you walk through the corn maze, there are lit up spider nests, giant pumpkins, large skeletons, and some really neat light features! Spooky music plays throughout and there are plenty of places to stop and take pictures as well. We had never been to a corn maze like this before, but quite enjoy going to Christmas themed light trails, so this combination of lights and after dark was really fun for us and our kids. This corn maze could be a whole event on it’s own, as it’s such a fun time.
We had a wonderful time at Cattows Halloween Farm After Dark and their after dark events do feel quite different from the daytime events of their trick or treat trail and other attractions. It is quite nice to get to have a spooky evening, with things that aren’t too terrifying so that even the children can come along and enjoy the outing.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
That looks like so much fun! I love all the performers that they have there on top of the pumpkins and all the other more traditional activities. SO COOL!
