A Day Out at Cattows Halloween Farm

Cattows Halloween Farm

Though we have already taken the time to get our pumpkins and carve them up, we are still checking out Halloween activities, which include pumpkin patches. As we were traveling quite far for an event, we decided to stop off at Cattows Halloween Farm – a pumpkin patch and Halloween farm that we have never visited before. This place was big – like massive – and could have taken much more time then we actually had to spend there, which is very good to know for next year!

The farm itself is really spread out, which we did find a bit confusing at first, as there isn’t that many signs, but once you have explored around a bit you can get the feel of the place. Upon entering, you are presented with a bunch of fair ground rides, at an additional price (beyond entry). There is a lot of variety in these rides, from rides for little ones to rides for older ones. Kai was actually too old for a few of the rides that Amelia and Robin wanted to go on, which was a bit of a shame, but he had fun pretending to be an adult and standing with Dann and I talking about our day and sipping our drinks. Along with rides, there were classic fairground games too, like Hook a Duck, Robin’s favorite.

Beyond the fairground, there is a fence area that’s a bit tricky to get behind, which is full of food stalls and a tented area that you can eat at – which is quite nice. I like these little food stalls and having seating is really important as so many places we have been too lately just didn’t have seating at all. Beyond the food area, on a long walk, was another tented area – but we didn’t have time to explore that this time – might next year though! Who knows what could be over there. Instead, we took (probably the wrong route) to a pumpkin patch, entering from the very back. Cattows Halloween Farm has the biggest pumpkin patch I have ever seen.

The patch went on and on, with pumpkins everywhere. They were all classic orange pumpkins – not any of the fancy pumpkins we have been seeing at our local patches – but there was a large number of them and some of them were quite big. We walked along this pumpkin patch through the tent at the end, and then along the photo walk. This area was also spread out quite a bit, but there were tons of photo prompts and opportunities, which is always nice to see at a pumpkin patch. Cattows Halloween Farm then took us to the Funky Barn, which had a collection of the more funky pumpkins, which you can purchase, as well as lots of decorations. There was a DJ skeleton, a freezer full of plastic bodies and more, as you enter the actual barn where you can pay for your pumpkins. This area continued to have lots of photo places and a spooky vibe – with a giant skeleton head – before spitting you back out at the fair ground rides for any extra riding you want to do.

Cattows Halloween Farm is a massive one, and can take several hours to properly explore. It’s an interesting and quite busy place, clearly very popular in the area, and can make for a very fun and full day out with the kids!

This post is apart of our Blogtober series, all with a Halloween or Autumn theme.
