I do feel that a lot of my time in Upstate New York will include going out to places to eat. I very much enjoy eating out and there are tons of new places to eat at! Dann and I really wanted to go to hibachi, so we mentioned it to my sister when we were talking about plans, and she recommended a few places, including Daifuku! Daifuku is a sushi and hibachi restaurant (with a good ramen, according to my sister), so we were excited to go. She took Dann and I, along with her partner, to have a dinner out.
Kimchi, Takoyaki and Clear Soup

Hibachi is one of those things where it’s sort of like dinner and a show, but before we began, we got a few starters. My sister and I went for kimchi, which was spicy and a bit sweet. The heat was one that did build as you eat it. There was plenty of kimchi in the bowl as well – absolutely tons! Dann went with his classic Takoyaki, which are bits of octopus inside some dough, in a ball-shape. His were very well presented and he said they were very good. As a part of our hibachi, we also got clear soup which was simple yet good.
Hibachi Steak

Dann, my sister and I all got sirloin steak for our hibachi at Daifuku, while her partner got chicken. The chef came out – a very nice older man – who started off by tapping the grill and making a lot of noise with his handles. While tapping, he ended up pouring out oils, creating a fire and starting the whole show. He made the rice first – which involved making a big egg pancake, and while he had that going, he moved around vegetables and followed a bunch of sort of silly words – if that makes sense. It was so much of a show! The rice had garlic in it and was very well seasoned – I really enjoyed this rice. Before the rice was completely done, he did write I <3 U on the grill in the food, and made the heart beat while singing.
Then he moved onto the vegetables, and threw vegetables into each of our mouths a few times until we caught them. We were then given the noodles which were quite thick, and they had a sauce on them. I didn’t love the sauce, but it was nice to have so many options! This sauce was also on the vegetables, which was a bit of a shame as they went on my perfectly seasoned rice – but if you like this sauce, I am sure it’s a fantastic addition.

One of the other things that the chef did at Daifuku made a volcano out of the onions and set them on fire. These onions were added into the vegetables we ended up getting! It was just a lot of show and a lot of fun. In the end, we all had massive plates of food, which tasted so good. The steaks did come out after the sides were done, which were chopped up and seasoned so well. Mine were cooked fantastically, and I very much enjoyed it. Dann said he thought that hibachi was going to be wonderful, but this really was better than he even thought. My sister rated it highly and her partner very much liked his chicken and the show – though he had been to hibachi here before so knew exactly what to expect! We all enjoyed Daifuku and it was such a fantastic show with great food as well.
