Fun Food at Battle Hill Brewing Company

I have been to Battle Hill Brewing Company a few times, as I lived so close by. However, Dann had never been there, so when we were looking for a place for a late lunch, I thought he would find some of the food interesting. It’s one of those small town places that has lots of regulars, a bar you can sit at, and a handful of tables. There are lots of decorations that feel American as well.

Playing Pinball at Arcade Archaeology

Dann is a big fan of pinball and has been for quite some time. While exploring a mall local to my hometown, we saw Arcade Archaeology – which was closed at the time. Thankfully, we messaged them and they agreed to open on a day of the week they are normally shut to let us in! Arcade Archaeology is a primarily pinball venue that’s set up like a museum. It’s a non-profit, ran by volunteers, who all very much love pinball.

Hibachi at Daifuku in Queensbury New York

I do feel that a lot of my time in Upstate New York will include going out to places to eat. I very much enjoy eating out and there are tons of new places to eat at! Dann and I really wanted to go to hibachi, so we mentioned it to my sister when we were talking about plans, and she recommended a few places, including Daifuku! Daifuku is a sushi and hibachi restaurant (with a good ramen, according to my sister), so we were excited to go. She took Dann and I, along with her partner, to have a dinner out.

A Day Out at Pember Library & Natural History Museum

I went off to visit family in Upstate New York and as a result started going out to all the little places hidden in the small, mountain-side towns nearby. One of the museums I remember going to as a very small child is the Pember Library and Natural History Museum – located right in the middle of the town my grandmother lives in. This museum is above a decent sized library, which is open, for free, to the public. The library itself is on a donation if you want basis, with a large collection of taxidermy animals, many of which you’d never see in this small town.

A Day Out at the Slate Valley Museum

When it comes to local museums, there are a few in the town my grandparents live in. When I was a kid, I never took the time to really explore them or learn much when it came to being outside of school. Now that I am older, and appreciate the museums that I go too, I wanted to go to the Slate Valley Museum right in the middle of the town. There are tons of signs around, which declare Granville as the slate capitol of the world, so I did want to know exactly what made this small town a popular place when it come to an export as simple as slate.
