Seeing the Mountains from above with Sunkiss Ballooning

[Ad- gifted experience] Growing up in the Adirondacks, I have always seen balloons floating about, over the mountains. Dann and I have also taken our children to a few different balloon festivals in the United Kingdom, including the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, but none of us have ever ridden in the basket of a hot air balloon that has left the ground. So, Dann and I were extremely excited to get a private tour of the beautiful mountain tops in a hot air balloon with Sunkiss Ballooning.

Dinner at The Harvest Restaurant

While going out for the day with my cousins and aunt, one of my cousins decided he was hungry and wanted to go out to eat. So, he selected The Harvest. The Harvest is an Italian-American restaurant that was founded in 1972, but has been passed down to local restauranteurs in more recent years. My aunt had worked here as a teenager, but the rest of us had never been. The Harvest has a very homey menu which has sandwiches, burgers, wings and pastas. It all feels very American and very traditional.

Golf and Soft Serve at Hillbilly Fun Park

I swear I have been eating ice cream at Hillbilly Fun Park since I was quite young. They have this custard-based soft server that I just very much enjoy, and there is always plenty of rainbow sprinkles! While Dann and I were visiting my family in upstate New York, I mentioned to my grandfather, Tyde, that we wanted to go for soft serve, so he picked us up and took us there. I got myself an orange twist, and Tyde said “want to play some mini-golf?” As it was a hot day, of course we did.

Fun Food at Battle Hill Brewing Company

I have been to Battle Hill Brewing Company a few times, as I lived so close by. However, Dann had never been there, so when we were looking for a place for a late lunch, I thought he would find some of the food interesting. It’s one of those small town places that has lots of regulars, a bar you can sit at, and a handful of tables. There are lots of decorations that feel American as well.

Playing Pinball at Arcade Archaeology

Dann is a big fan of pinball and has been for quite some time. While exploring a mall local to my hometown, we saw Arcade Archaeology – which was closed at the time. Thankfully, we messaged them and they agreed to open on a day of the week they are normally shut to let us in! Arcade Archaeology is a primarily pinball venue that’s set up like a museum. It’s a non-profit, ran by volunteers, who all very much love pinball.
