Dinner at Log Jam Restaurant

The Log Jam Restaurant in Lake George is aimed to mimic the Adirondack experience of being in a cabin and eating some fantastic food. The actual restaurant is huge, one room has a fire place, another has tons and tons of plants… it’s a very unique looking building that feels just like it’s own homey vibe. My sister works at Log Jam and has said the food is fantastic, so we were excited to go and eat! We did sit at the bar, though there were plenty of tables, as she prefers to do that. They do have a large menu with steak, seafood and a lot of fun dishes.

Lavender Lush Martini and Smoked Strawberry Margarita at Log Jam Restaurant

My sister and I started off with cocktails, tasting each others. Her partner got a hard cider. I got the Lavender Lush Martini, which has house infused lavender vodka. This was such a beautiful drink and it really did taste like a lavender. There was also St Germaine elderflower liqueur, and lemon juice. My sister got a smoked strawberry margarita, which had Montelobos Mezcal, strawberry liqueur, triple sec, and a house-made sour mix. It was a little sour, and little smokey, and pretty interesting!

Flank Steak, Soup of the Day and Salad Bar

I rorder the flank steak, under the chef’s featured entrees, which is a marinated flak steak that is then char-broiled and sliced, with a cherry tomato and arugula salad. This comes with a choose of potato, I got their mashed with a cream cheese whipped throughout it. These potatoes were probably the best mashed potatoes I have ever had in my life. They were super well seasoned, creamy, and full of flavor. The salad, for me, was overdressed, but the steak was very well marinated and cooked. This was a delicious meal!

The soup of the day was a creamy chicken soup, which came with oyster crackers. This soup was extremely flavorful and very creamy. It tasted quite fresh. The salad bar is a real hit at Log Jam Restaurant, it comes with any main meal, and is just a huge, well stocked salad bar. It’s got pre-made lettuce salad, loads of dressings, various different vegetables to top your salad, along with fruit, nuts and dried fruit. There are also a number of other salads; pasta salads, fruit salads, etc that you can also grab. There are cheese curds that are covered in herbs, various pickles, and even a selection of bread. You could probably just get full on this.

Garlic Bourbon Chicken, Bubbly Shrimp and Citrus Halibut

My sister got the garlic bourbon chicken, which is a boneless chicken breast, pan fried, with creamer potatoes, pearl onions and a creamy, garlic bourbon mushroom sauce. I tried a bite and very much enjoyed the creamy flavor of this. It came with the salad bar and a choice of potatoes (she got the mash I got). For a starter, she got Bubbly Shrimp, which was this sort of metal tray of shrimp and cheddar, where each shrimp had it’s own place on the tray. She dug these out with a little fork and ate them with a big bit of garlic toast. Her partner got the citrus halibut, which was an orange marinated halibut fillet, topped with a citrus coolie, parm and thyme crust. It was something he very much enjoed.

Peanut Butter Pie

The Log Jam Restaurant has a great desserts menu, so my sister and I split one. We got the peanut butter pie, with a sort of Oreo chocolate crust, peanut butter filling, and a sprinkling of chocolate. This was very delicious and quite decedent as well.

The Log Jam Restaurant has really fantastic food! I enjoyed eating there and hope to come back with Dann in the future.
